Crossfire stealth reg leak

Hey Nation! Well I have a bit of a problem on my hands with my tank.. I got the tank in a trade with a blown burst disk. This made me take the tank to the local shop and they took it all apart and showed me how to rebuild it with new rings and a piston and ball seat if need be. We replaced all of the orings and the tank held pressure and didn't blow a burst disk. When I went home, I had 4k in the tank, maybe a little less after it cooled down. I checked it a day later and it was at 2k.. So I take the tank and my new DM to the field to tune it and ended up shooting 400 rounds with 1k of air. The next day, the tank is empty of air in my bag with no blown disk.

Here is the dilemma, do I COMPLETELY rebuild the reg (or send it to crossfire and have them check it out) or should I just say screw it and get a ninja reg? I am trying to keep it cheap but if I absolutely must get a new reg then I am not opposed if it brings peace of mind and no leaks!

Thanks guys!

Here is what you should do:

1) Get some more air in the tank
2) I can't remember off the top of my head but if there is a little hole on the back of the gauge, tape it up
3) Dunk reg all the way under water and look for bubbles
4) fix leak accordingly.

I would guess that it may be the threads on the burst disk that was replaced. I would hope that they used some sort of thread sealant (Teflon?).

Replace burst disk lube the piston with 111 dow grease nd flip the little white ball. If tht doesnt work might be the fill nipple leaking.

CA tech - Will try that first as the burst disk, orings, and fill nipple are all BRAND NEW. Although I am unsure of whether he used teflon tape or not. I am at work but will check all the threads when I get home. I have heard a few people say teflon tape isnt necessary on tank threads but I disagree.. If I cant fix the leak that way then screw it, Ninja here I come!

Gonna have to fill it up again. Then dunk the reg under water. Usually fill up the kitchen sink to do that. See where the bubbles are coming from, report back

Got the tank filled and found two leaks from the gauge, replaced it with a mini ninja and all is good!

Here is a tip. Usually when "any mfgrs." reg in paintball blows the 1800 it is due to the seat at the end of the piston. The ball the floating chip or a piece pressed into the end (however it is done). If you don't fix that you will continue to waste money on 1800 plugs. Those burst for a reason and you need to get at the root cause.
When you get those leaks out of the side hole on "any reg" it usually means a cleaning and re-lube.
A leakey gauge thread did not cause it to go.
If your disc goes again call us 269-383-1111

I had the same issue.

I had a leak from my gauge and the fill nozzle?.

I just used Teflon tape.

Make sure to apply the Teflon going the same way as you screw it in so it does not come off.

I had my local shop fix it up and check it all out pretty thoroughly and it has been holding steady at 3k. I will see if it leaks out any more and if so ill have give you a call. Thank you for the tip!! Much appreciated

Fill a sink full of water, an dunk the reg under it. See if anything leaks.

Found the leak.. It's coming from the 1.8k disk. The disk is brand new and has been holding pressure minus the pinhole leak. Should the threads have Teflon tape on them cut to fit? I have almost spent the equivalent of a new reg on this already, I'm about to switch to a ninja reg for the reliability! :/ help me out here Chris/crossfire!

Not sure I understand by "Teflon tape on them cut to fit" . Is the leak from the burst disk itself or from the threads around the burst disk? When Teflon tape is used, typically a few wraps are applied around the threads then the piece screwed in. There is a method to the madness though. The key is to not wrap the tape over the very end of the threads and that the Teflon is wrapped on in the opposite direction of how the threads screw in. Is there excess Teflon tape that is on the threads that is visable when the threaded piece is tight?........Yep, usually, but I carefully cut away that excess tape to get a clean look.

I don't believe the burst disk needs teflon tape. I should just be torqued on and crushes to seal.

i would call crossifre or send a PM just to be sure. and no reason to buy a new reg.

What I meant by cut to fit is exactly what you described by cutting off the excess for a clean look. I have used the Teflon tape several times before on other projects besides paintball with great success. The leak is not coming from the threads though, it is coming from the bleed hole in the disk itself. This is leading me to believe there is most likely a fault in the ball seat like Chris had mentioned. I'm leaving out of town for the holiday so I will report back in a week.

Thanks for the help guys, it is very much appreciated!

It's been a while, but I still could not get the leak to stop, so I said screw it and bought a new ninja reg, no more hassles!

Realize I'm late to this thread, but I'm also having Stealth Problems, anyone know how it all goes back together?
How the pieces are arranged and what size orings are supposed to go where in relation to the piston and the other internal parts?

Just throwing it out there that most of the time a leak from a crossfire stealth reg I've found to just be caused by dirt in the reg. Wipe them down and relube and the problems go away.
