Mostly people up for weekends or short vacations from Southern California. A lot of LA, San Diego, OC, etc. It's a 5 hour drive from LA so a lot people will drive up after work on a Friday. A good amount of people from other parts of CA like Vallejo and Fresno. Some vacationers from all over, and your usual sprinkling of locals.
The people are pretty chill for the most part. Locals are super friendly in my experience and I haven't really run into *******s on the slopes, although it does get crowded at times like any other big resort. |

My high school had a trip to Mammoth, but I didn't end up going. Never had the chance to go since, either. I'm plenty pleased with Tahoe Mountains anyway, though.

i don't think i would actually ever plan a trip just to ride Mammoth. it would just seem like a waste of money

who was the ******* that was trying to say he could get his level II in one year? i think he got fired.
but did you get hired or just a try out stop? every mountain i know of has an on snow try out and i am willing to bet non of them have yet to happen anywhere in the US. my introduction to snowmass hasn't even happen. but good luck. you will like it or hate it if you get offered the job after the on snow

That was me ATM. I quit. Made way more and had more fun as a bellman.
Back in Mammoth for my second season. 6th day on the hill today. Sleating most of today. Already off to a wayyy better season than last year.

I have the TRS from a couple years ago. I like it a lot. It's a great all mountain board, and it does well on kickers. I don't really ride rails in the park, so I have no comment on that part of the board's abilities.
Also, I wish Sierra was still a part of the Vail resorts. Not that I can complain when I get to ride Northstar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood.

I'd probably need an avalanche safety course or backcountry skills course before attempting an ascent. Looks like there are some in South and North Lake. Three day in a row type deals for a level 1 cert. Do you already know that stuff from your Shasta trips?
