Axe sound question

All,

I've had my axe for about a year now. Its had anywhere from 100-120 cases through it, shooting the boss v2 bolt, stock spring, 140psi, dwell 4.0 with +/-3 over the chrono(underbored graffiti paint with .682 deathtouch).

My question for you today is, why is my axe so much louder than other stock axes? I have shot both side by side without the barrel and with identical barrels, mine makes a much more pronounced 'pop'.

Is there a tuning method to reduce sound signature? Am I neglecting maintenance on a piece of the gun? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

It's the lower dwell. Up the Dwell to like 8 and you can hear the difference.

Need to distinguish between barrel report & marker noise. The Lurker barrel is quieter than stock barrel, the marker itself is fairly quiet.

Kazer is right, it is the Dwell. Right now you're pushing all the air required to launch a ball out in 4ms, which creates a sound wave with more of a "pop" sound. With a higher dwell, that air is pushed out over a longer period of time, so you get more of a "whop" sound. Not as crisp. Couple that with a barrel with a ton of porting like the Lurker Eigenbarrel and you'll spread that "whop" out even more.

Hmmm I have a Boss bolt and Lurker barrel and my Axe is quieter then pretty much anything at the field.

The only time I've had it seem louder was (and I can't explain it) when I was using Marmalade on a really cold day. I re-greased it with da Poo and it was back to normal.

Put ure dwell back to 7, sweet spot the backcap then adjust reg for FPS. Ull get plenty of air off a fill and it will be super quite

In my experience with axes the lurker or ultralite barrels have been the quietest on my axe with the infamous bolt.
