Spring modded bolt guide

Sorry if this was answered somewhere, but I couldn't find it.
To put a spring in a Shocker, does the bolt guide need to be machined/modded? I know the bolt does, but I didn't see anything about the guide. And if the guide doesn't need to be modded, why does Pooty have his NDZ bolt guide "spring modded?"
Thanks in advance!

Typically they dont. But if the spring is binding then the remedy is to remove some material from the base of the guide.
