lol @ da mountain. sounds like something from the twitter sphere.

this is pretty ****ty to admit, but i am SO close to being able to bench my own body weight, if im not able to already. last weeks bench was 180x5, not bad, next week is 180x7, then up to 185x5! bench has been moving well on this program so far

Thats crazy man. I'm at give or take 10 reps. Just did 9 reps on about +5% my body weight last week. Just curious, but was that you in the Jay Cutler pic? And whats your h/w?

Most people just ask how much you bench. Then sometimes they ask your weight.
Someone that benches 300lbs and weighs 150lbs is more impressive than someone that weighs 250lbs.
And that is why powerlifting comps have weight classes.

Most guys at the gym could bench their bodyweight many times because their chicken legs carry no weight at all.

My second custom Inzer Forever Lever Belt.


My friend wants to me join a powerlifting comp this Sunday and JUST told me. The past couple of days I've been training for hypertrophy, but my current stats:

146lbs.
Bench Press w/ shoulders feeling a little sore:
95 x 40
135 x 12
225 x 10
245 x 8
265 x 5

Deadlifts
450lbs x 1 (Baseline. Incorporating a new routine to improve my DL)

Squats
335 for reps (5+)

Yea, 210 for high reps would get a little crazy. I think I'll hit 40+ reps next time.

Anyway, my co-workers (Personal trainers) are looking to put together our own fun/friendly competition. It's based on your body weight.
Exercises:
-Bench Press (bodyweight to the nearest 5lbs)
-Wide Grip Pull-ups
-Standing Shoulder Press (50% of your bodyweight to the nearest 5lbs.)
-Chin-ups
-Dips

Should be interesting.

sounds like he was just trying to have a friendly competition with his coworkers, which seems reasonable. i think it's pretty obvious he doesn't train using only his bodyweight so i don't see any reason to hate. I'm sure he would agree that benching your bw doesnt give you any sort of "bragging rights" on the gym floor, but i dont think he needs that seeing as how he said he can bench 265+ for reps. the guy knows what he's doing and isn't reccomending benching your bw as a way of training - so let him do w/e he wants.
