Looking at buying a laptop, found two on newegg that seem to be the best bang for the buck. Two I am looking at are:

ASUS K53 Series K53E-BBR17 Notebook Intel Core i5 2450M(2.50GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi Intel HD Graphics 3000

and

ASUS K53 Series K53E-RIN5 Notebook Intel Core i5 2450M(2.50GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory 750GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi Intel HD Graphics 3000

However, I've also found a MacBook (White) from 2007 for $300:

13"
150GB Hard Drive
Processor: 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM


My question is should I a) get the first laptop, b) save a little more money and get laptop #2, or c) save about $100-150 and get the used mac?

I'll be using the laptop for schoolwork, lots of photoshop, and moderate gaming. I'm sure the first two laptops will do just fine, but would it be worth it to save the extra $50 and get the one with more HD space and RAM, or would the mac fit my needs fine, even though the specs arent as great?

Minecraft and dpb primarily, so not like bf3 on high settings, but ok, depending on what I'm doing.

But the thing is that I'm needing it for school as well.

And my budget is ~ 400, the reason I've been looking at the two on newegg.

Just get the first one unless you think you need 750gb. You can always upgrade ram on the cheap.

Don't get a macbook that's 5 years older than that ASUS hardware. That's pretty dumb.

I'd get the first for your purposes or wait a bit for a sale for a better one maybe. Do they have Fry's Electronics in Michigan?

Got it. I was thinking that too, but was wondering if it'd be worth it to buy the one with the extra memory now.

I only put the mac as an option because it was $100 cheaper, and if it would perform well enough for what I want it to do, then it might have been worth getting to save the money.

And there's no fry's electronics in MI, I just looked on their site.

if your gonna use those for gaming, or even moderate gaming, they are lacking a GPU, i wouldn't recommend those... however i can recommended that would be in your budget that may actually hit what you want it for.
