And how can you justify spending $600 if you have no time to use the camera?

Are there any forums out there that cater to DSLR users? I am looking for a Nikon 18-55 lens right now and I cannot seem to find one that isn't over priced or that people won't part. I have a D70 and I bought the 55-200 off the bat because I knew if I didn't do it first, I wouldn't have a zoom in the bag.

My best friend bought an SX20 for a trip to Germany a few years back, they're pretty decent, just like any other dslr-esque point and shoot. How much are you paying for it?

Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC vs Canon 24-70 4.0 IS
Question...I was set on Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC over Canon's 24-70 2.8 Mark II because of IS (VC). However, Canon is set to release a new 24-70 4.0 with IS. ... In your opinion would you go with Canon's even though it's 4.0?
For example sometimes we stop our lens up to be a little sharper. Say we take Tamron's 2.8 and stop it up to 4.0 so now it is tack sharp
I don't wanna waste stopping up Canon's a 4.0 to say 5.6...I can't afford to lose that much light in the dark most of the time.
Ultimate question do you think the quality of a L series lens at 4.0 will surpass the sharpness of a Tamron's 2.8 stopped up to 4.0?

If you are gonna go with 4.0 then get the 24-105 f4L IS. Sharp, light, and good focal lengths.
Would I want f4? Depends on what I mostly shoot in and I'd go with no. I've had a Tamron 28-70 and I really liked it.

The only reviews I've seen are comparisons between Sigma, Tamron, Nikon, and Canon (all 24-70 2.8s). From what I've gathered, wide open: Tamron isn't as sharp as Canon, but only noticeable with strict comparison though consensus is Tamron's VC won it for most reviewers, allowing sharp handheld images as low as 1/8 sec. (from memory, don't hold me to that speed). Hope this helps.
Personally, I'd go with the Tamron.

the 24-70 4.0 is sharper than the 24-105 4.0
if this is a photo lens for you, the tamron 2.8 will beat both, how ever, if this is a video lens, the 24-105 is the lens to get. if it's going to be used for both, and you're going to be using the wide end a bit more, the canon 24-70 4.0 will be the lens to get.

I'm with this guy.
Tamron's VC is pretty underrated and the lens itself delivers solid performance. Yeah, the corners wont be quite as sharp, maybe you'll get some fringing here and there, but for the price it can't be beat.
One thing to remember is that f4 can be limiting on a 24-70. Not only do you lose a lot of light potential, but you can't get that paper-thin DOF even at 70mm @ f4. Personally I'd rather go with a 24 and 50 prime or 35 and 85 prime combo on two bodies for most situations.

Would I need a multimax at every position, or would a single multimax work with a +II/+III receiver on the remote camera?

Little late on this one, but:
From what I understand, one multimax on your primary, with a time delay, will pop your second camera at the end of whatever the delay is. So one multimax should do the trick.

Is there any software that will work on my Mac/D70 to do a time lapse shoot?

Just got my 7D last night, gonna buy a 70-200 f2.8L IS II, anything else I should consider? A Kirk ball head is in the future too. Buying lens today I believe.

i'd save yourself on the extra cash on getting a mark ii and IS... unless you need the IS of course
I have the 2.8 non-is and have never once been like crap wish I had IS... always shooting at a "fast" shutter speed where it really isn't even needed

I figure I would rather spend the money and have the IS and never use it than be pissed I didn't spend it when I had it and then needed it. Playing with IS in a friends lens makes me think I will use the lens more than I imagine.

Upgrade Path
Hey guys, looking for some advice here since you're all very knowledgeable regarding your trade/hobby. Looking to upgrade my equipment to something better and I would like to know your opinions.
Currently have a T3i that is used mainly for video as I only have the 18/55mm kit lens currently. I would most likely sell it to put towards a better body/lens. It is typically used for videos at my shop for new products and things of that nature. What I would like to do it use the new camera for the same videos, but also take video of playing and photos as well. I would prefer to start out with one good all around use lens if possible, but am open to suggestions on a good zoom lens as well as a good short range lens.
I have no problem getting in the **** and getting shot here and there to get better shots, so I don't NEED a super zoom lens unless the general consensus is that a lens like that is best utilized for all around use.
Like I said, I am open to suggestions so please let me know the best options. Not looking for top of the line bodies here, but a full frame sense would be nice if it's the right price. Thanks in advance guys, you've been helpful in the past.

Full frame sensor? Not gonna happen until you get to the 6d. 5dii only has 30fps.
What you want is a camera with 60 fps. With the t3i you have that at 720p. Keep the t3i if video is what you are wanting and just get a good tele lense and a sturdy tripod with a fluid head (lens = 70-200 f4L). Also, look into sliders, mounts, etc. to make the video look better. There's no reason to have a camera that can take good video and then just hand hold.
Or, you could buy one of those new Go Pro 3 black and do some sick stuff with it if you don't mind being up in the actions of things/good lighting. You're already setup just fine video wise.

I do already have a Hero3 Black as well. I intended to use that for "in bunker" shots and the like. Thanks for the recommendation man, appreciate the input
