Had a trunk leak fixed at the body shop on Friday, now I'm having to slam my trunk to seal it... the moldings for the taillights aren't on correctly, but someone said the 'seal' might have to get broken in first. either way I'd like to reattach the plastic moldings properly, is there a clipping system, or? (06 mustang)


If all else faills, going to have to bring it back to them on Monday.

I probably wouldn't bring my car back to a body shop that couldn't line up a trunk.

Look up guides to removing the plastic and stuff. Also there may be adjustable standoff/bump-stop things that you can adjust to stop having to slam it. Normally they just screw in or out.

Had a friend's roommate take a look, he determined there was plastic pieces on the molding missing to connect to the flat tipped screws on the inside. Damn it.

Take it to a different shop and make the first shop pay for it*

Update: it wasnt the molding, but we found two of the 3 plastic pieces, one in the trunk, and one of the tail light fittings underneath where the spare tire is... All he had to do was adjust the latching mecanism and everything was fine... It cost me only 10 bucks cause I also asked them to replace a turn signal bulb. Very happy.
