The gun they used, a Nelspot 007.

That technically wasn't the first model paintball gun made, that was the older Nelspot 707. The 007 was an updated design that came later. Both were originally made for marking trees and cattle. It wasn't until later that people thought it would be fun to chase each other around and shoot at each other with the things.
