I just got a tank on a trade and wasnt made aware and didnt see a large crack in the outer later of the tank. This tank will need to be retested come June. Will it pass? Its not deep and isnt loose like you can get something under it. You can just feel it on the surface. The small slit by the label you can get something thin like a knife in there but not deep.I want to know if i have to send this back to the trader or if it will pass.

Generally the rule of thumb is that if you can get your fingernail to catch in the crack as you drag it over then the crack is too big.
I would send it back, its not worth risking your life over a $100 tank.

What kind of bottle is it? I would always contact the manufacturer of the air system for any type of warranty work or replacement and see what they recommend.

Im not sure if it would pass or not, but i would definitely send it back to the person you made the trade with. If someone sent me a tank with damage like that and they didnt even tell me about it, i would send it back.

Look at it this way. If it blows during hydro, the explosion will be contained in the hydro machine and nobody will be hurt. That's better than an explosion at the fill station.
