They are pretty much the same except one has a spring and the other has a shim stack. They both have the same recharge rate so it's whichever you think looks better.

honestly, how do we know they have the same recharge rate? even if they do, shims can get gunked up easier than a spring. I think the g4 reg would be the better performing of the two.
will you notice this on the field? No. Will you see a difference over the crono? Maybe but one could argue that a certain reg was more broken in or maintained more than the other. I would not bother buying one or the other.. just whatever comes on the gun.

Although not the same so I don't know if it applies here but Ninja has found that a reg with a shimstack is slightly better (I think it was more consistent?) than a spring. This is why the Ninja regs have, and will continue to have, shimstacks in them.

my ninja reg has shimms though AKA 2 liter- best reg of all time, has springs. but i think G4 reg was derive from CP reg. i do like my G3 and G3 spec R reg, they are very consistent which is no suprise because its almost the same design as Hyper 2 reg. to me if your shooting +/- 3. thats good enough. there was one time that my G3 shot 296 four times in the row.

Depends on the design of the belleville spring stack. Vanguard had an issue with them flattening out over time in the Creeds.

Yep! Hyper 2's are very similar to G3 and Spec-R regs.
CP Reg has a ball bearing carrier for reg adjustment with a belleville spring stack.
DP G4 Reg has a ball bearing carrier for reg adjustment with a spring.
All of those regs are great performers.

I'd take my G3 reg over my Luxe reg any day of the week.

My spec-r's reg is very consistent. im +-3 fps all day. i also baby my guns too. ive put about 30 cases through my spec-r and after everyday of play ive relubed the whole gun. i also relube my solenoid once a month just to be safe. i think ultimately they are going to perform very similar but it will come down to how well you maintain your gun
