Geo 2 and Ego 7 or 8 are solid choices. Owned an Axe and still owe a couple of Mini's for friends I take to the field. Enjoyed all of them. Piece of advice....
Buy a quality used marker and if it's not your cup of tea trade it for something else.

If you want a pump it depends on what your preference. For a milsim pump the empire trracer is good but is not very air efficiant. Although what i recomend you do is buy a cheap trilidgy pump. Get a good single trigger frame and a cp regulater. You will have a great setup and since you are use to having a speedball gun than it wont feel much different.

If you have all the newest parts in your mini it should be firing pretty smooth. Honestly I'd spend the $$ on paint and focus on upping your game.
For what it's worth, I own a dm12 and love it. After using ego's for many seasons I wouldn't go back, don't like the noise level, felt recoil, or the ergonomics of the guns. Before my m12 I had a m9, m8, m7, etc.. honestly they all smooth very similar when properly tuned and broken in. Probably the same, but I'd like to tell myself the 12 is just a hair smoother
If your dead set on getting a new gun best thing to do it ask people at the field if you can throw a pod through their gun and see what you like the most.

The way I see it, you basically go big right away and spend $1000 on a high end marker, or you can work yourself up the ladder by starting out with mid-end marker and trading up.

For just a mid end gun I would look into a Planet Eclipse Etha or a Drone DX. Then get a Ninja 68/4500 or whatever size best fits you. As for a hopper get a Virtue Spire. All in all that would be around $810 if you go with the Drone leaving $190 for gear.

I'd say if you're a beginner, stay away from a Used Luxe. If there is a Luxe being passed around on here like a $2 hooker, I can guarantee you it's a lemon. They're hard to maintain for beginners. I personally own one myself, and I've been playing for years.
Good marker under 1000? If you don't mind tuning, a G6R, a used Geo 2.1 or maybe even a 3. Macdev Clone GT used... Etek 4's are nice too.

I'd take a look at some older egos. Ego 9s can be found for around 550. Great shooters and easy maintenance

used Geo 2.1 for about $650, reliable and smooth high end tournament marker,
nothing else. Only used markers over $1000 can overwhelm it
