Best hopper for newbie?

I recently started playing paintball and got a setup from a friend at a super low price. PM8, Halo TSA, Dye Throttle, and I3 mask. Ther hopper has the exalt speed feed and the hopper itself has seen quite a bit of use, cracks, chips and such. I want to get a newer and better hopper. Could someone please help in my choice?

It all depends on what you want to spend.
Here's my list of preference in descending price: (I bought a new V-max)
1) new rotor and speed feed: ~$180
2) used rotor with speed feed: ~$110
3) new V-max : ~$80
4) Halo, pinokio, view-loader...

I am sure there will be some bickering about my leaving off the Spire, but I have no experience with them so their not on the list.
Just my. 02

The Spire is a great, Great, GREAT Hopper, and I highly recommend it, but you might need to save up some money because its $185

I would go with a more budget friendly oriented hopper until you're sure that you feel like wasting a ton of money. Halo Too, Spyder Fasta 18V LED, or the new JT Evlution (NOT the old eggy that went by the same name). Performance is great, they're easier on the pocket. Not as simple to clean in most cases, but you get them for the 1/2 the price.

If you want one of the high end ones, a lot of people love the Rotor, but it doesn't like cheaper paint (loves to jam with it). I like the Prophecy Z2 of the high end hoppers. But really, any of them is going to feed far faster than you need.

The only hopper currently out I'd strongly urge you to avoid like the plauge is the Vmax. Sent mine back to Valken TWICE to get fixed because it fed about the same speed as the $15 Proto Primo (non-agitated), never did get it fixed. Things are slow, ugly, and a bunch eat batteries. Total, absolute, GARBAGE of a hopper.

Thanks for all of the advice. Looks like I'm in a toss up between the rotor or spire. I'm thinking invest in a good one now and get used to it rather than change again later. Again, thanks for the advice.

If you look at it go the spire my rotor is perfect in the colder months but when it gets hot it Jammes like a mother ****er, so bad to the point I took it off and started 1 balling , but the spire is the best hopper I have ever used, never jamms easy on brittle paint , and it looks sexy and feeds as fast as a rotor if not faster definitely go spire

That is the smart thing to do, buy once, buy well, have it last forever. I would suggest buying the Rotor just because it has been tested and proven, plus you can get them used for cheap.

$100: Dye v3 rotor / Empire Prophecy z2
$150-$180: Virtue Spire

Ya i think there are a few routes you could take here. Most have been mentioned. You could go all out, buy the spire and not need a new hopper for god knows how long. Or, you could go with a HaloV35, save some cash and have a great hopper until you know how financially invested you want to become. Or meet in the middle and get a used rotor or Z2. They are tanks and are well proven and should last you quite some time. The rotor gets highly toted as most durable but my z2 has been through more than I ever put my rotor through and is still perfect, not to mention paintballsolutions is AMAZING with cs. My vote, get a rotor or z2, they are top of the line loaders for a real decent price used, saves you some dough with zero performance loss.

Easy, cheap, fast and reliable? Halo. You can pick one up for $35 and the V35 is faster than the Rotor. It also never jams. Kinda heavy and the shell is brittle but well worth the price you pay.

Buy the best one you can afford.

These would be my top three choices
1.Dye rotor
2.Virtue Spire
3.Empire Prophecy

I prefer the Rotor. I hardly ever get jams on my +4 year old V1 Rotor when I do its because the batteries need to be changed. They are practically indestructible. My V1 has feed an ungodly amount of paint and still works like new. I despise Dye, but they make quality barrels and hoppers thats for sure!

I got a Halo V35 for $20 shipped about a year ago, and so far, I've put in an empire antijam free way, critical drive cone and spring cup package, warrior speed strip shell, and an exalt speed feed, so in total, I've spent... $55 ish, and it never jams, and I have no reason to replace it unless I magically get sponsored. I COULD get a 9v conversion for about $9 and switch it over from 6AA's to 2 9v batteries, but I don't really have a reason, I spend $10 on a pack of 24 AA's and the batteries I buy last me about 3 cases per 6 batteries, not the best, but I really don't care that much

tl;dr
Halo FTW

The best choice would be getting a higher end hopper (Prophecy Z2, Rotor, Spire) but if you are looking for something and still reliable, look for something like a Vlocity or halo and that would be your best bet.

Budget friendly = Halo or Reloader B
Higher end = Rotor (IMO)

I would honestly say, if you're serious about getting into paintball, just save your money and go for the Rotor, or any other high-end loader.
That's not to say that the Halo/Reloader B are bad, I doubt you'll ever be able to outshoot one, and they are excellent loaders. However, there's a good chance you're going to want to splurge on something like a Rotor.
I just prefer the Rotor since they are easy to use (1 button, that is all), nice profile, and very easy to clean, maintain, and work with.

On a budget, just buy a new shell for your halo. Want a super loader? Get a rotor. I own two, both are v3s bought a year apart. No complaints, the perfect loader.
