Yea that's bad but coming from where I'm at ( a kid that's loved shooting people: especially josh ) getting a back up gun will prevent me from playing a tournament because I don't have the extra funds. Shoot I can barely afford practice because no help from parents..

I didn't mean NO backup marker= NO paintball tournaments. I only bring 1 extra marker to the field for the entire group of 3 to 4 about the size of a team. I really was a Boy Scout, and I believe in being prepared. So maybe a teammate has an extra they can loan in case of breaking down.
At least 1 backup marker IS NEEDED for tournaments because without it how are you going to play if a marker goes down on your team? If the answer is I maintain my marker (I am a freak about mine and happened to me). Or if the answer is I know my marker I will just fix it. Consider how fast the tournaments move and possibly dropping an important part in the dirt and not having a spare.
I have done amateur tournaments and back up for everything is needed. Back up air for the burst disc that blows out, back pods for the one that is crushed or lid broke off, backup pod pack for the one that another team picked up accidentallly, a backup hopper for the slide that breaks the feed neck, and even the back up marker for the team.
Paintball is expensive and tournament paintball is very expensive.
Even a used ION cheap cheap cheap would be cheaper than going down a man in a tournament because your team didn't have a backup.

Axe backs up the Geo3, so that I never miss a day of play, let alone a point.

For all over the 2012 season, I've used my ego 11 as a primary and etek 3 as my back up. If you take good care of your guns (oil/lube and replace o-rings) its far less likely youll have problems. One thing I've learned from experienced players is that players have to protect there guns when the play. Everyone on my team carries at least two guns to the field with them for practices and tournaments.

I know how important a backup is.
Last tournament I lost a detent assembly in my Mini and 7 or 8 of the refs helped me look for 20 minutes in the almost straight line and area around it that I was when I lost my detent, we even looked on the way back to my car and couldn't find it. I tried playing with one detent and it was rollout city, so I shut my eyes off and just had double feeding issues but then I'd get ball breaks if I stopped firing. Another team happened to have a spare Axe that they were awesome enough to loan.
After that tourney I've learned to loctite EVERY screw that sees the light of day and I'm currently saving up to buy a backup and I'm looking at Azodin's new Blitz since it's an affordable marker that seems to be pretty awesome.

Just saying, but how about you get a decent gun? For the price you pay for that low end blitz, you can buy a used pm7, ego 6, shocker, dm6. All highend guns.

I have almost enough of everything for 2 players!
2 masks (however they have 2 different lenses so I just choose the appropriate one for the weather)
2 jerseys (I just kept my old jersey)
2 pants (again, just kept my old pair)
2 loaders
2 guns
My main gun is a DP FX, and my backup is a G3 Spec R. I've never had to use my backup as such, but I sometimes switch back just for S&Gs.

I have had a Mini for a while now, and I think they are pretty decent gun. Not the best tourney gun, but reliable. Everyone loses a detent now and then even the high end markers. Even orings go sometimes so a backup marker just spends the player back on the field. The mini is my back up marker for our group of players for rec ball. For tournament players do you really want to be fixing a marker before a match?

I've never seen a PM7, Ego 6, Shocker, or DM6 for $120. EVER. Maybe a Shocker SFT, but the efficiency on those sucks and I play with a small tank. Why don't I get a big tank to buy a new gun? Well, because that's ridiculous to buy a new tank to buy a new gun where I'm effectively spending a minimum of $200 to use a $120 old highend that really doesn't have any support whereas I know if I happen to break a $120 Blitz I can get new parts for cheap as hell, or I could rely on the fact that the Blitz is retardedly simple to maintain and just works whenever the trigger is pulled as long as there's a battery.

I just sold a DM6 for 150, I'd say you could find a better deal.
I have a Blink Ego10 to back up my Orange/Green Vapor

All of our players have their own markers, then our coach lets us use his DM9 setup as a backup, plus we get a Reflex from our shop sponsor just in case. Form our roster of 10, we have about 14-15 guns ready to go.

The tourney I played in the other week was a 7 man and two of the guys guns went down at the same time and luckily we had 9 guns on the roster so they were able to use one of our guns. They probably would've been screwed if we didn't have extras on the team.

Yes I have a backup marker, tank, and loader. Needed each in the last 6 months for various reasons. Marker hit the ground and busted a ball in the hopper so paint soup all over the eyes and hopper. A burst disk blew on my tank at the field. Rare for sure, but saved my day of ballin
