What do you look for in a good PB field?
I recently got into paintball after playing a few games of back yard paintball with a friend and I am thinking about trying a few fields nearest me. What is it that a lot of you experienced players look for in a paintball field before and after you walk onto the field? What do you find to be the best layout as far as the terrain and obsticles?

I am a Speedball player, so I make sure the field has a regulation speedball field that is PSP. I look for safety, fair prices, good competition, and a welcoming and helpful staff.

All good points. So instead of re-writing I will just elaborate.
I don't mind paying higher prices if the facilities justify the cost. I'm not paying above average FPO prices if you only offer poorly put together rec fields. I personally like urban assault fields (I'm more woodsball than speedball). Refs that actually are active in the game is important too. I hate refs that just sit on the side and do nothing.

Hmm...
Increasingly, I look for a mixture between speedball and woodsball. I'm a woodsball player by trade, but I do play speedball when I can. I also look at entry fee and BYOP options. Some fields have BYOP days at the end of the month. After that I look at staffing, field safety, player dynamic, and driving distance.

Around here having people to play with is key. A field needs to have enough business to keep you playing.
Also having decent fields to play on is critical but most do and I am not picky. But if you like woodsball you may not like a field that only has speedball.
Also matching your style of play is important sometimes. If you shoot a bare bones semi and your playing in a little netted in field where most of the other guys are ramping it may not be much fun.

That you could get in quick games and not have to walk a mile to the next field.

What i look for: (in order)
-price
-friendly and helpful staff
-fields
-location
Although its an easy decision for me, being that the closest field is a 15 min drive and the next closest field is a 40 min drive along with bridge and highway tolls.

i look for a field that the staff actually cares about. if the people there working don't give a ****, then why should i even be there.
everything else is secondary, except HPA(if a modern field doesn't have HPA, then they really don't care about anything). when the staff/owners care then you'll have good paint, good maintained fields, good facilities, good refs, good experience.
its as simple as that.

More than anything i look for at a field would be staff that are responsible. After that i would look at fair prices for paint as well as the quality of the turf and bunkers
