I never got chrono'ed the first day, second day I think I got check twice total. We had no chrono in our pits on psp2. Whether they get stolen or not, we should have some kind of chrono in the pit.

But, everyone else on that field was spot on. The ultimate was great at explaining calls and the other refs were great at getting in and calling players out. Overall I was happy.
I remember her from previous events. This event however she did awesome.
We played on her field and she did amazing

Refs need to know the rules, especially at World Cup where we are paying seriously a crazy amount of $ for 4 games... WC isn't the place to be teaching refs the rules or what could have been done differently after the game or even during?... No joke, on our field, I could have swore that one ref hasn't even played paintball before or even reffed before...

One game I was last alive in back center. 2 left on opponent's team... one in snake, other coming up dorito's... I shot dorito, who then played on and got a minor penalty. As the ref was running across the field to pull the other guy, which I'm not sure why they didn't just relay across field to pull the snake guy, the snake guy shoots me, he obviously saw the other ref coming for him.

I thought I should have been wiped clean then would still have had ~15 seconds to hang the flag to send the game to OT. Mistakenly, I turned to look at a ref and she calls me out. No point given, we then were down 2-1 with 15 seconds left... In hindsight, I probably should have just raged and wiped it and not even have spoken to any ref and just ran, pulled the flag and hung it, then let everything be sorted out after I hung the flag.

What would you guys recommend in that situation?
You def should have argued it. DEF would have went nuts.
That's just my thoughts.

i was on psp 3 with the head ref in shorts, same ref we had sunday on dye field, he chronoed every player coming on, on the field side not truck side, every game he did it, we had no hot guns and no issues. i really think scotty and his guys on psp 3 did a great job. i am a psp ref myself and i saw no issues on my fields i played on.

people are complaining about the refs, but honestly no ref is perfect, asking them to be perfect is asking for wiping to stop completely, they do what they can to the best of their ability. I say we just let the reffing comments go and look forward to getting to see teams we wanna see again at all the psp events next year.

I was the ultimate on the PSP 3 field and DYE on Sunday...I do NOT wear shorts and my name is Chris. You got a funny memory Lol. But Thank You for the compliment.

My back line refs where diligent the entire event about chroning players.

Thank you.

I have got to say that WC was one of the smoothest events I have ever reffed. I think this was mostly do to the great teams I had on my field and I would like to thank you all for making this a great event. I received more thank you's this one event than I did all season long.

And I got to give it up to my Reffs. They pushed though 11hrs of race-to-4 thurs-friday and a 10hr long race-to-2 bracket Saturday with less than 60 seconds between points to catch a breath. I say this so that you as players may realize what these guys go through and that if you did receive a call not in your favor, just realize it was not on purpose or bias. In fact, we don't even know who is who 90% of the time. Its just all bodies after the first day. Anyone who works in retails know this feeling. We are human, mistakes will happen. The trick is not repeating mistakes which takes time and experience.

While I enjoy the compliments very much I (Scotty) wasnt the head ref on Psp 3. On Psp 4 the head ref was wearing shorts acrossed from the pits from us, plus hes 20 years older then me lol? Yes, I was on Psp 3 but not the head ref. I was on snake side, wearing shorts, and never chronoed anyone, on Psp 3. Although, our head ref made sure our backline refs had everyone chroned and ready to go before the game started.

We were the refs on Dye field sunday so you probably are talking about my field.

Thank You

It still wasnt bad enough to complain about it though. I don't feel the ref's ever screwed our team over or anything like that.
This. As well, many of the rookie refs can be out of their element, calling only absolutely, positively blatant penalties on the first day. Maybe testing the waters. Day 2, they are more comfortable in their environment and begin making more decision calls rather than just pulling the player and letting it slide. It is unfortunate, however it happens. Nervous is nervous. The refs don't want to blow calls just as mush as you don't want to get a penalty.

I thought the refs were doing very good jobs. It kinda irritates me when the ref feels he has to explain himself to the spectators though. Refs will always be questioned in every sport on every call but i dont think they should have to go into an argument with players/spectators. What they say should be the end all..good or bad call. Overall this was an awesome event. My 55yr old dads first event and he thought it was the coolest thing ever.

I NEVER get on here to complain about refs, but I am glad to see that other have noticed the poor job the yellow haired girl is doing. She was absolutely the worst ref I have ever been in contact with in Chicago, and I left the event hoping to never see her again only to find her doing another poor job at the biggest event of the year. I was worried I was just judging her for one poor performance...

I a lot of cases it isn't about knowing the rules. In my particular case when I would ask what they saw they could explain what happened and why they pulled the player. When asked what kind of penalty that is they could tell me it's a major or minor correctly. Then I ask why they didn't pull it and they don't have an answer. Reffing is quite different from playing and you have to process a lot of information very quickly and it's very easy to miss or skip a step in a process when things are happening quickly around you. I missed some penalties last event on the D1 field because I was going to pull a player out of a can that was shot and playing on and as I was reaching to grab him a player from T1 shot the back of my hand multiple times from about 10' away. My hand hurt so bad that I forgot that I still needed to get 2 bodies. I apologized to the T1 coach and told him he was correct that I should have thrown a major, but I can't correct my mistake after the game.

New refs generally take 2 or 3 events to settle in and begin to really see what is happening around them and calls will come naturally. Saying that we shouldn't have new refs at WC doesn't make sense. We always need to bring in new refs regardless of events. We aren't organized like other sports where you have different divisions that don't intermix and refs work their way up through divisions (think football and the NFL ref fiasco that started this year). It would be nice to say that refs have to ref feeder series first before moving up to national events, but there just aren't that many of us that are willing to put in the time and effort to allow you guys to play. Most of you don't know what reffing was like 7 or 8 years ago before Tim took over and started the certification process. It gets better every year and we still work on fixing problems we come across. The league keeps getting better on both the player and ref side and I like where it is going.

Reffing was very good all season long (last season as well) for the d1 field. The only complaint I have, which I say every year to the refs is consistency. If something is a major, it needs to be a major every time, if something is a minor, it needs to be a minor every time, etc. This will not allow arguments which will make it easier on the refs.

This event I was very happy with judgement calls, they were better then ever. I saw this on the d1 field and the d4 field. Instead of calling both players out on a run through, the refs were leaving the proper person in. The only flaw to this is if it is clear enough that someone was shot first, then a penalty should be assessed to the person who shot after they were eliminated.

Overall, thanks for the great season refs,

Matt

And there is the problem. Until we as players have enough respect for the game and each other not to cheat then this will always be a issue. If you are hit get out. Trying to get away with it is not the answer. I'm not referring to the pack hit or one that is not obvious, I'm referring to the guy who gets hit in the hopper or arm and continues to play. And later gets that same person gets the **** shot out of him and he is screaming for an over shooting penalty. Makes no sense.
