So I see you buy tickets for some scernario games based off of the side you want to play on.

How do you pick a side to play for if it's your first time playing there?

For Us at Steeel Reserve, if we don't get actively recruited to a side, we will generally choose a side based on The storyline, or where our friends/sister teams are playing.

Pick the side with the least amount of players to try and keep it balanced, or pick who ever has the best food. Unless you're all about winning. Then try and guess which side gives you the better chance of that.

I grab my 6 month old son and say in a thick Kung Fu accent:

I have three criteria.
First is the players. Is there anyone I know personally or by internet reputation already committed to one side?

Second is the theme of the game. Do I want to play Good- or Evil.
Face it, there's always a protagonist & antagonist, that's part of the whole Scenario genre that sets it apart from a simple Big Game.

If neither of those two apply, then the third criteria is "which team needs the players?"
I'll always choose the underdog. Meaning the side that needs the most help is the one I'll play for.

For me, a 4th consideration that relates to the theme of the game is possible costumes. I get an extra thrill out making a spectacle of myself.
But I know that's not for everyone.

Now, if none of that is good for you, then just go play & have fun.
Don't worry about which team you end up on, just help the team you're on get the win by running missions & gathering props.
And always listen to your General. You can best help him by being on the field.

Like Pyrate Jim said above...just go out and have fun. If it is your first game ever, you don't have to think about sides. If you frequent this site, follow the game in question. If you like the way one side sounds over another, choose that one. Unless you have some other friends that play more often, the choice falls more on luck of the draw or picking the side that sounds like they are the underdog or not.

One other thing....if you frequent one or two fields and have seen a home team that you might like to join? See what side they are on and tell them you are interested. Most team will welcome you to join their side and run with them for the day. Whether it is a good match for you or the team will be determined later but, you will have a great time anyway.

I normally try to go with the side that has the lowest numbers, unless of course I'm not a fan of that side's command staff. In which case I do what I can to crush them
