I believe someone said they popped it in and said it worked, but really the way the powertube is designed it's probably not the best idea. The GT has a flat powertube and the older Clones it was rounded at the front. I've never tried it myself but it looks as though it's possible for the rounded part of the powertube to make contact with the venturi bolt face on the red bolt.

I have to think that if it was a viable drop-in option that MacDev would sell the red bolt as an upgrade part.

I'm just tossing out my opinion here though and not 100% sure if it would work without any problems. I never wanted to try the red bolt in my VX as a test as I didn't want to potentially have the venturi bolt cap break and have to buy a new one.

They work just fine with v2 clones. The powertube is flat on the non vx clones and it fits just fine.

Well that solves that. Good to know. Perhaps I'll toss my red bolt in my VX and play for a day with it to see if there would be any issues with the rounded powertube (could always hand cycle it and test I guess). He's asking about the VX so that's the real question. I suppose you could likely call MD and ask to purchase a red bolt...not sure how much that would cost. Perhaps they'll sell them as an upgrade someday.
