Big Head Need New Mask
Its that time again my JT masks just wont do anymore it hurts....
What is the best mask for an overly large head? Full protection is preferred but not required... $30-70 range
Thermal Lenses are preferred

What JT mask are you using?
The Pro flex has great coverage. (one of the best) The E-flex has a lil less but you can use the older bottoms and get even better coverage and they have great lenses.
Are you using a Sandana or head wrap? They help with mask fitment. I use two head wraps and it allows me to fit my fat face in an I4.

Proflex, E-Flex or Sly Profit would be my suggestions.

It was some basic mask that came with a kit a long time ago... Might have to make a trip to the local pb shop (guess I have to support them) and try a few on. I will try each of those masks on and report findings. I normally do not where a headband or hat might need to as for the first time last week a got hit 12 times in one play (some noob with auto) in the dome and it was quite painful.... No regulation on field people were firing at 360fps one hit instant blood.

I would suggest investing in a quality sandana or head rap. You can also go the winter hat route if you don't have the cash but that can get hot in the summer. This will alow you to wear the mask lower on your face for better coverage. All high end masks are designed to be worn with a head wrap of some kind. After that is just finding one that you feel most comfortable in.

Proflex seems to be the best mask for larger heads.

Highly suggest you try them on before purchasing. I have a big head and sometimes the mask doesn't sit well on your face, regardless if it covers the best. Fit is crucial.

Myself and my team love the sly profit, however the I4 is way too narrow, short, and tight for large headed individuals

Yup, best way to find one that works for you is to try them all on.
My only recommendation is that you stay away from the SLY they have to many issues. They can be deceptive because they are the most comfortable mask on the market. They just aren't designed with a paintball player in mind. Its like playin with earmuffs on while a week midget is smothering you with a soft microfiber pillow. That and the color coating they use falls off after a few months of use, and they fog.

I have to disagree with most of this. With the early versions it was true that hearing was muffled. That's been pretty much fixed in the new ones. Hell, I'm nearly deaf from 4 years in the Army firing a .50 cal machine gun sans earplugs and I can hear in them fine.
As for fogging problems, that's almost always caused by the wearer not removing the rain guard. Sure there are exceptions, but any mask will fog when pushed to extremes.
I will agree though that the color does not hold up as well as it should.

7 7/8 melon on me, and I've been rocking Profilers for ages. Price is good on them now, and dual pane thermals are available now as well.

E Vents is are on the bigger side and pretty easy to find used. The biggest by far is the E flex. I just bit the bullet and brought a pair myself and fit very well.

Another big head here. (Big as in XXL motorcycle helmet!) I've been considering the Sly Annex or Vents/Helix. I only have an old Brass Eagle mask (don't know what model) that came with my 2nd hand 98C. It's OK, I guess, but my 15yo son (5'10", 240lbs, and another XXL melon!) and I need an upgrade. We're not worried about how "cool" a mask looks, or if it's a big name brand. We're worried about protection and comfort! Our budget's tight, so I would consider buying used ones if good thermal lenses are still availablefor under $30. Any ideas?

If you splurge on anything it should be a mask. Cheeper masks tend to fog and are uncomfortable. Nothing beats the value of a quality head wrap and mask combo. Buy one for comfort and fitment not price. I would buy a used high end before I purchased a new lower quality mask. I3s have great fitment and are on the cheeper side. V-Force Profiler are great good lens good coverage. Proto Axis Pro are great. None of these can be had for $30 you wont find a quality mask for that price without buying used. But I suggest you spend a lil more. You will enjoy your day that much more when you can see and don't have issues.
Go to your local store find one that fits the way you like and Check the BST section you can find great deals on used masks.
