Does Camo really matter? Or can you wear anything in the woods?
It seems like the players that wear camo have a huge advantage over the players that wear speedball gear in the woods? Your eye is drawn to bright colors, where camo blends in to the background. Say two guys were approaching each other, one was wearing camo, and the other was wearing Empire gear.
Which one would see the other first?

Or is it just the first player to "freeze" that will have the advantage of hiding in plain sight?

Question is, does camo matter in the woods, or is it all tactics?

Camo helps no matter where you are. Knowing where your enemy is going to be helps more.

Considering camo and ghillie suits are designed for military members to better blend them into the environment they are working in and that the definition of camouflage is: "A set of methods of concealment that allows otherwise visible animals, military vehicles, or other objects to remain unnoticed by blending with their environment or by resembling something else." I think the answers pretty obvious.

who would've thought that blending in with the surroundings and not moving would help?

I suppose camo helps, but in the end we are dealing with paintball guns and very small small distances. Just because you can see someone, doesn't mean you're going to hit them (And chances are you're going to see them no matter what they're wearing by the time they're in range). I've never seen any experienced player get shot faster because they weren't wearing camo. Some of the best woodsball play I've seen was from tournament players wearing they're regular bright gear. It's all about the fundamentals. I know there are people who swear by camo, but I don't believe it makes much of a difference in paintball. ....And it's safe to say that it's definately not going to make or break your game.

I wear a bright orange Flyers jersey when I play in the woods. Camo is almost pointless where I play. Also, it's kinda a passive advantage for the young ballerz. Nothing will make a 12 year old poop his pants faster than a 6' Bushwookie popping up in front of him and laying a rope of paint through his group of friends. While the look on their faces is worthy of putting on an award to your badassedness, we want those kids to enjoy their time and come back. Those kids having a good time and telling their friends how awesome paintball is, that's what wins you the "rec-baller of the day" trophy.

Camo works in fields like the one in the vid. For short recball games where you can see both teams off the break, doesn't matter.

No camo is good enough to be effective within paintball range if you move. If you stay still, any combo of greens and browns will work pretty well.

Yeah, I was in a jazz mood when I edited that game... Sometimes you just gotta mix it up a little.

Camo only works if you don't move, at my local field I love it when the ref calls the game and a guy in all camo in the corner of the field that nobody bothers playing on walks off the field.

Eyes are drawn to motion, not necessarily color. A lot of Army references in here but movement is just as heavily focused on when teaching.

I did plenty of stealthy movement using woodland style digi this weekend on the desert fields of SC Village. Camo without technique is largely worthless.
