DGAF what they think before doing meth, cocaine, popping pills or any other hard drug. It shouldn't be my problem if someone chooses to waste their money, time, and life on something like that.

We desperately need to treat adults like adults. Ultimately everyone is responsible for their own lives and the consequences of their actions. We have to accept that people will fail, people will use drugs, and people will end up in poverty. At some point we need to stop focusing on every negative. What gets people out of bad situations is healthy ideals and determination. No amount of money or education is going to be sufficient without those. Hence the dysmal failure of the Great Society ideology.

Faulty generalization.
The one particular lady wearing a red blouse is a whore, however not all women who wear red blouses are whores.

As I have said before, I am a self made man, I have never taken help and never will.
Anyone who does, is lazy IMHO.

So you don't drive on roads? Someone else paid for those you know. A self made man like yourself wouldn't want to rely on other people's infrastructure.

Ah but I pay taxes with my hard earned dollars for the privliage to drive on said roads. Can the lazy good for nothing slobs on welfare (and I mark a difference betwene them, and the good hard working folks who happen to be down on their luck for a few months) say the same?...No.
I know well your stance on this, everyone should have the right to a roof over their heads and so on...bull****. If you don't work for it, then no, you don't deserve such given to you off the backs of people who do work for it. (again we see a differnce here betwene handcaped folks and able body folks, if you can work, and don't, your lazy)

"work together to build a public road" =/= "self made man"

I don't think they even stop to consider any consequences because we've grown up in a society where everything works out, and no one is accountable for their decisions. They don't have to stop and think to themselves "oh, it's okay if I become an addict because I can go on welfare/food stamps/whateverelse" because they already know it to be true... it doesn't even cross their minds.

I'm not naive enough to think everything works out in America, that's why I harp on personal responsibility so much. However, we live in a society where there are safety nets for everything, you almost have to try to truly fail beyond recovery. As such, we've got a large percentage of the younger people here who don't grasp the gravity of everyday decisions and assume that everything will work out because someone has always been there to take care of them.

I'd say it coincided with the rise of media/communications and in particular the internet. When it was no longer possible to control information, they knew that their brand of politics' days were numbered in a democratic society, because their brand has always served the few at the expense of the many.
So being unable to control the masses, it became important to disenfranchise voting blocs, weaken people economically, and ruthlessly preserve their own resources.
