<3 Ibanez, just wish I had the cash...I wish I had the cash for a lot of things though, lol.
Also, this Planet Waves cable with the on/off is killer. I've had it for over a year and have damaged it too many times, including 10 minutes ago when I stepped on my wah and didn't realize the cable was between the pedal and casing...crimped the cable dead. Two minutes with a razor and screw driver and she's perfect again . I got a $50 Monster cable for free, the cable is thicker than the Planet Waves and normal generic cables, I just wish it was repairable. Lifetime warranty is good too, but I'd rather have another Planet or one of those Bullet DIY kits. Everyone knows there's no big difference in sound quality between $100 cables and ones for $10, but I constantly step on them, pinch them in a pedal, run over them with my chair, etc.

Learn to solder and buy some bulk cable and connectors. You'll save yourself a lot of money.

Found a guitar for my first project. 20th anniversary Squier Strat. It's in decent shape, planning on replacing a few parts, as well as repaint. Wiring appears solid, but the pots are loose. Nothing too major, but it's a good starting point for a first project.

Very false. A poorly shielded cable with even poorer wires will not only pick up a ton of noise, but cut different parts of your signal. Play a coil cable then throw a 15 ft Planet Wave on and you'll definitely hear a difference in mids.
I've been rocking some Road Hogs for the past 6 months and they've been working great. Cept I think the one isn't fond of getting kinked around my pedal board's handle. Maybe some day I'll invest in some Lava cables.

I'm a fan of George L. They make getting the right lengths easy on pedal boards.

I passed on the Ibanez just in case I ran into a nice Tele since I've wanted one for a while.
I'm so glad I did.

Have you looked at the strength of electromagnetic currents that are needed to disrupt the signal of a basic shielded cable?
The only real times such differences are seen are for medium to large venues.
It's funny you mention poorer wires. Do you know what the wires are? They're all made from the same material. There's no magic voodoo behind them. It's copper. That's it.
Noise is usually picked up by cables running too close to power sources and most people don't know the electric build up of their own house, which can cause mysterious noise issues a lot of people contribute to the cable being the source of the problem.
Capacitance is the real factor to determine and it's nothing more than a personal opinion. Most of all cables are shielded just fine. But the capacitance is what will make different areas (low/mids/highs) more present or less present.

smeat, that guitar is absolutely gorgeous. Do want!

Thanks man! It may not have a classic Tele sound, but it's so versatile, especially with the coil split. It fell pretty much perfectly into the price range I was planning on at $450.
Now I really need to find a job, though haha.

Nice tele. I love thinlines.
I keep seeing adds for Joyo pedals on CL. Anybody tried them? They are cheap but look fairly well built for imports.

I know a guy that had/has an overdrive one, it's not true bypass and made one hell of a lot of noise when you turn it on. Other than that I can't say much, something in it came loose and I haven't seen it since. My GC doesn't carry them, otherwise I'd be in there trying them all out considering how cheap they are and supposedly they're good clones.

I'm contemplating doing some surgery on my AC-4. For what it is, it's a decent enough amp but I'd like to see if I can get a bit more out of it (and I just like to tinker). My idea is simply to gut it and replace the circuit using better components and point-to-point wiring.

They're not too bad. For their price, they're pretty rad, considering most of them are straight up clones. I don't know if I'd buy one new, but for the price they fetch used they're totally worth picking up. If anything you can just flip them again for about the same price to some ******* kid that just likes to make noise (like me).

Do you have a blue one or the cream one with the attenuation?
