DAM thoughts

The dye assault matrix i being released very soon. Here is an explanation video and a link to the dye blog talking about the features. I defiantly thought it was inevitable that dye was going to get into the milsim market. It does looks impressive and possibly very well thought out but it still isn't enough to covert me over to milsim.

So what are your guys thoughts on this gun?

It looks pretty sweet! I just don't think everyone is ready to go milsim.. Speedball is too popular among the younger crowd and that's where the sport's future is. Milsim will become popular soon though!

Yep. Us tourney players think we are the kings, when in fact we represent about 20% of ballers.

Woodsball is king. But woodsball =/= milsim.

I am strictly a woodsballer, and would never CONSIDER touching that at over the price of the $300 rail.

Yes, I don't doubt it will be. It's Dye. I'm simply saying for me personally, anything over $300 (the price of a Mokal Aura) and it's overpriced for what it is.

The clip feed thing is a gimmick but dye will make money off it. They have pete utschig and other ex-ironmen guys ripping up squids at big scenarios games all over the country promoting this thing. It will sell fine.

"omg ex-ironmen guy how did you shoot 100 players?"

"With my DAM "

SOLD

You are an idiot.. with the current stagnant economy the two fields of paintball that have grown in market share are Milsim and pump. Already there are clip-only leagues being set up. And how many of them work well with FS rounds, none. Even the Tiberius arms markers can't effectively shoot them, let alone shooting them with any rate of fire. I'm excited about it because it is new and different. I was planning on building my own fs
Semi marker but now there is this great option.

There is no gimmick it is just simple, it is by far the best option out there.

If i played woodsball, i think i would be happy that a giant company like dye has taken notice of that market because they make great products.

What do I see?
1. macroless dm design (even if it is hidden by a huge plastic body)
2. Re designed asa for a macroless design
3. dm12/13 fusebolt back cap sticking out

What do i want to see
1. where did they put the lpr?
2. What the gun looks like with the grips off? Is it a milled grip frame or hoses?

In conclusion, Even if dye doesnt come out with a NT13, they are playing with concepts that make me happy as a paintballer that we could see play over into their speedball market

To me, it sounds like an NT, it doesn't say anything about having an LPR, and at least one rumor I've heard said it was an NT with a couple modifications to make it cheaper... so, I suspect that despite it's name, it's prolly closer to an NT then a DM.

That makes me sad. For me, DM's and even PM's have been my markers of choice in the woods. Their quiet sound signatures allow me to fade into the background amidst all the noisy Tippmanns/Spiders. They were also the markers that made me hang up my obscenely upgraded Tippmann for good. I would MUCH rather have a DM inside.

At first I was 100% all about getting the DAM, but then I held my marker again, and remebered how good it feels in my hands, and then I realized that I would have to be running my tank on remote AGAIN... and I, definitely, started to second guess my decision.

Ultimately, it's only real advantage (for me) over my DM is that it can shoot First Strike rounds, which aren't even field legal at the majority of fields yet. Otherwise, it's bigger, heavier, runs on remote (I realize it doesn't HAVE to be ran on remote, but how awkward would it be without one), and harder to clean (I REALLY don't enjoy cleaning a picatinny rail out with a q-tip).

I've spent years cutting and cutting down weight, getting lighter and lighter and more and more aggressive. For me, this would be a step in the wrong direction, it wouldn't allow me to get as tight to cover and it would bog me down a bit. If I can find one used for $700 or so, I'll probably pick it up for occasional use, but I don't think it would ever be my primary... not because I don't think it's not worth it at $1200 or so (which, knowing Dye, will be a likely initial pricepoint), just because it doesn't suit my style of woods play anymore. I'm not the same guy that would take a case and a half on the field and spray the living crap out of the opfor... I get close, and I take careful shots, now.

^^^ uh oh, watch out. We got a John Rambo over here!!!!

realistically, I think the DAM is great. Not only because i fell in love with it as soon as i watched the video and saw the pics but also because it sets the bar even higher against a stagnating industry. they have managed to combine mag feed/ hopper fed, which is the feature i most love about my T9.1 with the electronics package to put some paint down range when needed. A lot of the idiots here on the nation are gonna say "oh its too heavy blah blah blah" but at 5-ish pounds this gun is lighter than any gun i ever carried during my time in the service, which is the style that the DAM looks to replicate.

So all in all, the DAM is going to be a winning combo regardless of its price tag

i personally think this gun is bad ***; i would call it a different name so u don't offend some ppl ou there lol. But it's target is woods ball players, not speed ball. the gun is competing with tippmann, bt and tiberius. if it is about the cost of a decked out tippman or the t4 i think this gun would be perfect. you could finally have the performance of a spool valve in a a woods ball gun, so it would be quite and have no kick because its a dm, but with the extra weight it practically wont move. plus the fact that you could easily go from paintballs then switch to fs rounds with no work at all. i have been shooting speed ball gun for years now but if i had a field that would let me run full auto id pick one up with out hesitation. but the mil sim guys should love this, it won't be as customizable but should be able to out shoot any woods ball gun.

lol, well if the shoe fits!

I'll also mention that I've gone up against the Tactical Ironmen a couple times, and the fact that they were shooting DM's and NT's, previously, didn't seem to make them any less formidable.

I'll look forward to meeting them again with DAM's, when the opportunity presents itself.

I couldn't agree with you more.

I am mainly a woods ball player, so having my favorite company making a marker for woods ball is pretty awesome in my eyes. To go with their tactical gear line is sweet.

Honestly I think that it was a very bold move by Dye to make a gun that is very militaristic in design. I expected them to make a gun that looks more like the bob long G6R tactical marker.

But that being said it does severely limit the market of people that the DAM can be sold to. It has to purely advertised to woodsball/milsim players. There is absolutely no way that a speedball player would ever use it because of the weight and single trigger.

What ever comes out for Dye has a tendency to trickle down to Proto after a year or two. That will give them a real possible for very large sales figures because the price point. It still will be higher than Tippman but none the less a serious competitor.

The only market that dye hasn't entered into is the pump market which in recent years has become a lot larger than in the past. Even Bob Long has seen the potential for profit with their Marq Victory Pump. I don't think they have any intentions of making a pump gun due to they signature spool valve design.

Well, it is possible to make a pump spool. I've seen pump Ions.

Also my thoughts on the Dye DAM are its nice to see a all speed ball company make a woods ball marker but also ive noticed that other company's had the idea to this year like dangerous power has just introduced the m3-a1 which is going to be $800 Vs. the Dye dam which is estimated and $1200 but I will be getting the DAM Dye has never let me down

Well there you go now there really isn't anything holding them back from entering into that market. That is assuming that the Bob long pumps have good sales figures.
