I need help validating an idea
So I want to put a drop of some sort between the frame and rail so I can run the tank out the back, behind the frame.
When I had a 90/45 in one of the old AGD ASAs that attaches on the back, it traveled down to a point where the butt of the tank was about mid-frame in height in respect to a bottomline setup.
Now I don't want to buy yet another tank, so I just want to throw a drop in and keep things cheap, simple and comfy.
Is this at all possible without any extensive modification?

So you want to replicate the agd out the back back asa? Or you want to put a drop from between the rail and frame? Either way it shouldn't be to hard to do.

Messing with the geometry of the space between the grip frame, rail, and body is tricky on the 'Mag. It can be done, but it takes some work.

You don't have to mess with any of the geometry or tolerances.
-mill the back of the frame out, just above and behind the field strip pin.
-make a rail, drill and tap 3 holes in it(one for the field strip pin and the other 2 for your asa)
-drill into but not through the automag rail 2x, then tap.
-put the rail you made into the back of the frame where you milled, field strip pin will go through frame, your rail, am/mm rail and into valve.
-the other 2 holes will support your asa behind the frame and under the rail

I can't do that to the frame. It's a Powerlyte Gripstyx. That'd be torture
Although, from what I think I get, I can also have the rail milled (Which is just a standard MM rail) up a little bit from the back and then tapped for another screw to hold the drop in place?
Yes. Drop.
Not ASA, not Rail.

You might not get enough threads in the rail and put too much stress on the valve/field strip screw, if I understand correctly. You don't want your **** to break in half

Myeah, shooting for that as well
I wonder if I can just get a rail milled of T7.
I just REALLY don't want to touch the frame AT ALL.
It's a mint condition powerlyte frame and I really want it to stay that way.

does the rail not have 2 holes in it? you can drop 2 nuts through and put bolts and cut the excess bolt off to make it fairly streamlined, its a little ghetto but would accomplish your task here; depending on the ASA you use will determine how well the nuts snug up
if you are wanting an extension/drop, you can buy some bar stock and do that way, then attach your asa to that using the same method..paint it all black if you want and look slightly less ghetto

Did I miss something, are powerlyte frames rare? I have seen lots of them pass through ebay for very little $.

Just get one of the older under the valve mounted ASAs. They bolt right to the rail.

I think I have a mm rail that's tapped for back bottle.
