Dishonored: A Magic Steampunk Assassin Simulator
Release Date: October 9, 2012
I'm SUPER excited for this game. I think it's going to be one of the best of the year.
The devs have a good pedigree, some having worked on games like System Shock, Thief and Deus Ex, and the art and gameplay look great .
Anyone else picking this up in a couple weeks?

Well at least you gave it a chance, and weren't immediately dismissive like some people.

I think i would like the idea a lot more if it wasnt for all the electricity weapons/time stopping/robot warriors etc...
It looks like they tried to mix Assassins Creed with Infamous. Im not completely dismissing it but ill probably watch some gameplay videos before i decide whether to buy it or not

It looks pretty interesting. I'll most likely pick it up on PC at some point.

Embargo is up! The reviews are trickling out, and it's looking good. It has an 87% on Metacritic so far. Not too shabby. I cannot wait for Tuesday.
Edit: Another great review that puts any fears that this game wouldn't live up to my expectations to rest.

"The combination of blinking and an extended jump makes moving through the levels feel surprisingly close to Mirror’s Edge rather than an FPS."
Have I mentioned I'm excited. Because, jesus, I am really excited.

I watched the game play videos, do want! It looks like a lot of fun. Mainly the super jumps.

My friend just got this game and I was having some fun playing it. Up until the point I accidentally assassinated the weapon maker dude and the game ended.

Quite enjoying this one so far, feels like a refreshed assassins creed without trying too hard to be a knock off.

I has a little of the Assassin Creed vibe, mainly because of the anachronistic setting. I definitely get the hints of Bioshock and Deus Ex that a lot of people talked about in reviews as well. So far, I think it's really excellent. There is something awesome about almost getting discovered by a guard, blinking behind him a split second before he notices you and stabbing him in the neck.

I'm on what I assume is the final level, based on context clues and general time put in. I've done a somewhat mixed approach this time, killing people here and sparing people there, so I think I'm gonna play though on the harder difficulty again and go for the fully stealth approach now that I have the feelings for the mechanics and whatnot.

This is one of those games I'll wait on. It looks fun, but I can't justify dropping full retail on it.
Sooner or later, it'll be on the bottom shelf for $15.

I wouldn't put it in that distinction, the game is better than that. I'd be happy paying 40 bucks for this game new, but it definitely has a distinct replay value to it that will have me playing through at very least once more. Even though levels are "linear" in the sense that you load a level with a given objective, the amount of ways to get to your ideal outcome is pretty awesome, and the side quests you can pick up along the way keep the game from getting stagnant. It's worth Red boxing at the absolute least, set the difficulty on normal and you won't have the game for more than 3 days if you don't delve into the multiplayer, which for a game like this, is the second pony imo.

Was my confusion, I assumed the xbox live option was multiplayer for some strange reason. Disregard that.
Finished my first run through last night, upped the difficulty and am going for 100% no detection and no kills, and it's pretty ****in tough.
