So here are my next duty station thoughts in order of what I want.
1. Field Med Training West Coast.
2. SOTG.
2. Airwing unit as a 0369 at CP or Miramar.
4. Ranger Training Battalion.

I'm out. I live in Northern Virginia. About an hour north of Quantico.
I have a friend from 3/3 who was Mr. Hard Charger. Loved the Marine Corps. For whatever reason, he enlisted with a degree in PolySci as an 0311. Was ... well, not exactly 03 material. Became company clerk, then was transfered to the S-2. Did like two deployments in the S-2 shot before finally getting a lat move to intel approved. He was pretty much full on hard for the Marine Corps. Was so excited because he had orders out of the schoolhouse back to 3/3 in time for the workup for the next deployment.
Was about a week from finishing up at the schoolhouse and they changed his orders. He was going to go back to 3/3 and be the Wpns Company CLIC leader. That suddenly changed and they took an NCO from Quantico with no deployments and swapped them.
Well, I got out about 3-4 months after he had settled in to Quantico. After I got back from my honeymoon, I stopped by to visit him. Dude is a shell of his former self. He is already counting down time till he gets out. Has 2+ years left at this point. Already looking for a job, trying to get an early out, but can't because he has a high clearance.
Since then, it has only gotten worse. Apparently his shop sent a SNCO to be his old unit's S-2 Chief. That SNCO was relieved and another replacement from my buddy's shop was assigned. My buddy attempted to speak with the replacement (who also had no deployments) offline and attempt to prep him for the job. He ended up with a Page 11 for disrespect to a SNCO. In his rebuttal paper, he spent a page and a half calling said SNCO a boot. Another Page 11.
Somehow, he still ended up picking up Sgt. Apparently his shop is too incompetent to file paperwork.
Essentially, Quantico took one of the most motivated and dedicated Marines I have ever met and turned him into a Terminal Lance with 4 months left on his contract and no chance of picking up.
Ironically, I *****ed and moaned about the Marine Corps the entire time he knew me and now that I'm out, he barely recognizes me. Something about not having random SNCOs inspect my room and being able to leave work whenever the hell my job is done has made me much more pleasant to be around. He couldn't stop laughing when he met one of my co-workers and they described me as "carefree and easy going. Nothing ever bothers him."

Heh. Well I am with him in wanting to get the **** out as soon as possible. It seems like I get ****ed with endlessly for doing a good job, I just don't get the credit, only when **** breaks am I responsible. If its a job well done its the rest of my section.
Dunno how you do it though man, I cannot stand this area. This place reminds me of a ****ty version of Metro Detroit(where I grew up). Similar structure and dynamics, but everything is slightly worse.

use all the little things the PMI tells you, ie chipmunk cheek, slow steady squeeze etc...its easy, nothing to stress about.
