Can potentially buy a 2000 F250 7.3 for 5k. It has close to 300k miles, but was a company truck for a tire company and has all the maintenance records. Tranny has been rebuilt, new water pump, brand new tires, and some other things. It also has the hydraulic lift gate as well as a brand new original tailgate as well. Only down fall is that is a SCLB and 2WD. Should I hop on it? Test driving it tomorrow.

One of my good friends races dirt track, and they use a square body 7.3 to pull their race trailer. Its got something like 360xxx IIRC, could be wrong though. Its very close to 370 and they still pull trailers with it. Tranny and rear end have been rebuilt, no engine work that I know of. 7.3's are strong as ****.

If it was any other diesel I'd be a skeptical (except for a cummins of course) but I think I'm going to offer on it if everything checks out good on it.

The only real problems they have is oil pan rust. It seems of it was use for short hard runs it will last a long time doing them. But don't switch to long heavy hauls (multi state) and expect it to last as long after a short hard start to its life.
I've noticed that working with my boss and his transport company. One of the guys bought an lbz(one of the best duramaxs you can get, or the best depending on who you ask) and had his motor let go. It was a oil field truck so lots of short heavy hauls and once he switched to his long haul of travel trailers it let go. But my dads lly has almost 450k all farm use and has no problems.

S300? S400? And why'd you choose a BorgWarner over a Holset or Garrett?

custom s300. chose Borgwarner over the other two because of the Price. Got a smoking deal. 63mm compressor, 68mm exhaust, 14cm wastegate. Has a little lag but not bad. I want to eventually put an MP90 supercharger on it but that is after I rebuild the engine.

Lag is expected, ever think of twinning it with a smaller inducer?

The money I would spend putting twins on, I am saving up to rebuild the engine. This will eventually be a pulling truck. The lag doesn't bother me really.

Turbo spools at around 1400 rpms. The clutch in mine is so damn grabby (dual disc kevlar) that I cant tow even if I wanted. I have been trying to wear this clutch out so I can go back to a big single disc that is a little more traffic and tow friendly. This truck is my "hotrod /toy". The only work it does is to haul trash.

Haha, mine is my "hotrod/toy" as well. Look at the graph above, ran just about the same numbers on a XDP and Mustang dyno as well
