Help me decide on my hopper for my mini
So I played this weekend and tried the following hoppers on my mini...
Tamaco Arc gravity fed
V-Max
I concluded that a gravity fed hopper won't keep up with a mini when walking the trigger. I still have the following to try out...
Halo V35
Primo Proto
The Halo seems heavy, could use a tune up to a new motor and change to 2 9v batteries (anyone done this mod? Does it help with weight? Is battery life an issue?)
I ordered the Primo and I'm going to try it, but I'm not sold on gravity fed hoppers so I'll let yinz know.
Should I try a Dye hopper? I like the look and I hear there isn't a lighter/faster combination.
I'm looking for a light rotor hopper that feeds 20+ BPS. Using 9v batteries is a plus but not a must.

Just shot the Primo Proto and I'm impressed. I had to bump the hopper twice during my walking trigger test but for a gavity fed hopper, it's the best design, better than the arc loader with a banana style frame.
So I now have a gavity fed backup, I need to get a front running mechanical hopper.

Well, The V35 works fine until you place more then a half an pod in...then the motor starts to act up. Thinking a 10.00 motor will fix the hopper for you.

Is this in regards to a specific hopper that you have or the line in general? OP What is your budget? And a gravity fed hopper will never keep up at 20bps as you asked.

Yes, as a gift...I ordered him a used V35 Halo. Cleaned it lastnight and shot 1/2 a pod without issues. When I started to play aaround more with it and a full pod the motor sounded as if it was on the way out. Then started to blink red and green until I moved the paintballs forward and the motor started up again.
He liked my Vmax that I play and gave him my backup (own 2) during this past Sat.

Ok, so the halo is the most proven platform in paintball. It can still run with the highest end guns, just not as conveniently. I would say start there. Obviously your friend bought you a bad hopper (I think??) so dont write off the product as a whole. Get the Halo, use it and when the time is right to move to a more advanced setup, there will be more options.

The Spire is now lighter and faster than the Rotor. It is, however, unproven. It is brand new and may have some kinks.

It happens. Long story short is I got him a Halo V35 as a gift. I live in Ohio and he lives in PA...didn't get the hopper in time to give to him. So, he has been using my Vmax (which he likes). Anyway, I took aapart the halo V35 and cleaning the living crap out of it (had paint all inside). programmed the board for level 6 and it worked great. Shot a pod of paint without any issues and ran about 5 pods in the rotor.

I guess I'll try the Halo and see how it competes.

Thats pretty ridiculous. I have never heard of a mini not registering with a hopper. Even if it did happen, just turn the sound sensitivity up.

If a Clone VX and Clone GT can work with s sound activated hopper than so can a Mini. Nowhere near as quiet.
