I would love to get myself a Baja turbo.
I have always loved the Subaru Bajas, but I'm really really itching for a manual turbo. I'd throw some good snows on it and have some winter fun, then use the bed to put all my boarding gear in.
Or maybe an FJ Cruiser if I happen to stumble across a large bag of money. Manual, of course.

I almost got a baja XT in M/T, but it was the same price as my STI. I made the easy choice.

I love the WRX's, but I honestly can't drive an Impreza, the rear visibility is just too poor.

It was the first thing I noticed when I stepped into one. It was actually the deciding factor between a Legacy (which is what I did go with) and the Impreza.

Wait, what? You must mean sedan, and even then, it's nowhere near as bad as, say, a 350z or any of the American "sport" cars.
My hatch has perfect visibility.

Very true, and the trunk space was very necessary for stuffing 4 snowboards and gear in. Unfortunately now I have a FWD car.

I do mean sedan, the only hatch I'd ever consider is a GTI, Golf, and maybe RS3 later this year.
But yeah, I sat in a Camaro and it was HORRIBLE.
I may be testing a BRZ soon, I've got high hopes for it!

My 2003 Baja just blew up about a month ago. My own fault, didn't take care of it properly. Drive very nice, had everything I wanted (minus true horsepower/torque). Great 'trucks' though.

You are right, the baja has terrible ground clearance for a full size truck

Err, Avalance.
Chevy is fine. Avalanche isn't much of a truck, though.

Everyone seems to be on subarus dick when it comes to awd and their capability . But most neglect ground clearance for snow . If this is one of the things your getting it for you may want to consider something higher of the ground .
Also having decent back seats makes things like grocery shopping in the rain or going to a football game with 3 adults more doable . Also if the baja has the turbo engine it tops out at what 25 mpg ? That's not a lot for something with less than 250 Hp .
Also the ford explorer sport tracs are really cheap used a friend had one that we used a lot for the ski season . Wasn't terrible in the snow but it got terrible mpgs for a v6.

Hmmm, 3500lbs with 250 HP vs. 6000 lbs with maybe 350 HP? And the rear leg room in the Avalanche is less than 2" more than the Baja.
So, bottom line, maybe for 3 feet of unplowed snow I'll take an avalanche, but for the other 364 days a year with less snow, and snow-less roads, I'll take a turbo-charged car with a low center of gravity that is fun to drive year-round. That also gets above 15MPG in the city.
