Check my setup - How to improve...
So I'm fairly new to paintball and I got a sweet hookup from my friend to get me started but already I'm wanting to upgrade. Within 100$ what would be the best choice?
My Setup
Etek 3 AM
Dye Rotor Hopper
Ninja 48-4500 Carbon Fiber Tank
Jt Proflex Thermal Mask
and Pods

Hmmmm. Well let's see. I need to know what mask you have.
Mini: 170$
Fasta- 30$
Tank- 90$
So you'll have about 400$ to spend. I would get a used axe for 325. I would keep your tank. And your fasta will be just fine at the moment. That's a great setup you have there already. I'm sure most of us wish we had something like that when we were beginners. Put the mini up for trade here on nation. See what you get because people may end up throwing something nice up your alley. So put the mini up and keep the other stuff, you'll thank me later.

What kind of mask do you have? If you have a decent mask you should get a new hopper. Maybe a halo too.

A good mask, like events, e-flex, pro-flex or I4's. Definitely a new hopper, my best recommendation is the dye rotor, pricey, but you can find a cheap used one on here that will work great. Minis are fine, but if you want sell it and get an axe.

Improving your setup isn't going to improve your game. The equipment does not make the player..

Why waste the money, when you can use it to play more often?

This. . He is 110% right. Just keep the gear you have now. Most of us would've killed for that setup when we were beginners. Upgrading would be silly.

Upgrade the trigger and instead of using the trigger pin, tap the holes on both sides. Put set screws to hold the trigger, it will eliminate the side to side play of the trigger.

Don't upgrade for the sake of upgrading, upgrade when something is annoying you and you wish to improve it. If you need to ask what upgrade you need, then its a good indication that you don't currently need an upgrade at all. Trust me, you'll know when you need to upgrade something.

honestly, if all your equipment works fine and just want to upgrade something, i'd ditch the fasta hopper and get a used rotor v3 for 100$ shipped on here.

If you're comfortable with the gun itself, take a look at a multibore barrel kit. That way, you can match your barrel to your paint, and it will help your efficiency and accuracy. I'm kind of surprised nobody suggested that already.
A full used Freak kit will come in under the $100 you've got budgeted.

an upgrade doesn't necessarily have to be in the 4 main pieces of equipment.
what about your knee pads, elbow pads, pants, footwear etc? being able to move around w/o pain/discomfort is just as important as your gun working properly, maybe even moreso.

There is no point in getting rid of the mini for the axe. Especially since you are just starting. Upgrade your gear. Your gear is something that will stick with you.
A mini is a great starter gun, I've seen some nasty mini's in all honesty. If you're worried about "uping" your mini, just get a lurker bolt/barrel combo for it and be done. Get the .684 barrel, you'll be able to shoot more paint than if you try to underbore .678 especially if you're playing rec ball. As the paint for that seems to have more variations vs say a box of premium.
With that being said, you didn't list your mask. Which is one of the most imp parts of your gear. If you can't see you can't shoot. I didnt have a limit when looking for a mask, I tried on several and ended up with the empire flex's.. some people complain about the black line along the bottom, however, I look at people not down inside my mask, so I'm good to go.
If you got a good mask, get a newer hopper. You don't need a rotor, a halo too will do you just fine. However, back to your gear growing with you, the halo too is a great hopper which works great on an axe. My halo w v35 worked great on my luxe too. However, the fit of a rotor to your gun or a spire to your gun will be much better. Sleeker line and smaller profile with a "high" end hopper. Also much easier to clean. There will be people that say, you're lazy if cleaning a halo is a pain in the ***. Well, clean a rotor, clean a spire, then clean a halo... let me know what you prefer.
If you are fine with what you have as far as mask and hopper. Then, I'd look into footwear and protection. Elbow and knee pads, cleats.... etc

Nothing you have needs upgrading. The Mini is a great entry level tournament marker and for $100 you would not gain much as far as the marker goes. The Kingman Fasta is not the best loader on the market but it is a proven platform. It will probably be able to out-feed you until you have been playing for a while longer. The Ninja is a Ninja. Arguably the best tanks out there. The only thing you could do is upgrade to a 68/4500 but that honestly wouldn't be worth it. JT Proflex IMO is the best mask ever made. There have been some improvements made with the E-Flex but there is a reason why Empire/KEE bought JT just for that mask/foam. Pods are pods. No need to buy expensive ones. Some of the best pods I have ever used (Empire) are about $2.50 each.
I didn't see that you listed a pod pack. Do you own one? If so what kind is it. That would be one thing I would spend the $100 on. That or a good set of pants. Both are very important.

The mini and Ninja tank are great together.
I'd look at...
Deadly Wind Fibur barrel ($100 or less)
Freak Kit ($100 or less)
Halo 2 or Dye V3 rotor ($40 to $100)
Shockwave board ($25)
underbored barrel ($80 to $100)
Rake trigger (??? ) makes it easier to get 2 fingers on the marker to walk the shots)
Otherwise your setup is good for playing against any 15+ bps marker out there.

I honestly do not think any of this is necessary other than maybe the barrel kit. It is nice to be able to match your barrel to the paint you are using.
