Brutal Bruise

**Some gross detail**

Hey Guys,

I'm not new to the sport, but I feel like this is kind of a noob question. I was playing a 3 man tournament last weekend, bunkered a guy from a few feet away, and as I'm sure we're all used to by now, he turned on me and shot me after I got him.

To the point, he got me in the thigh from about 2 feet away. I'm assuming he had a hot gun, so I had a clean welt at the time, but now, where I was hit is like an orange color about 2 inches in diameter, surrounded by a black ring, and then a yellow color that stretches pretty much the width of my leg. I don't remember it breaking the skin, so I'm ruling out an infection. This happened on Sunday.

I've been playing competitively for a little over a year, been shot hundreds of times, but never seen anything like this. Worth getting checked out? Or just a nasty hit?

I don't want to scare anyone away from the sport, so if this needs to be moved, let me know.

probably just a bad hit. I notice that all my welts on my biceps, thighs ans sometimes chest start to turn yellow after a a day or less. That being said I doubt its an infection.

I wouldn't worry about it. I would have had the ref chrono his gun though. People like that just ruin the sport. I know at my field the ref will pull the gun after the match and kick them out of the field for things like that. Either way it just sounds like a gnarly bruise.

It just depends on how your thigh was(flexed or not) a bruise will be several different colors its just part of the healing process. If your that concerned put ice on it

Thanks all. Just wanted a second opinion.

I agree, even though at the time it felt like a normal hit. I was more concerned about him getting a penalty for turning after he was hit though.

sounds like just a bad hit...some parts of the body bruise worse than others it seems too, like the inside of your biceps...along the ribs...and thighs..at least thats where i tend to get nasty looking bruises, anywhere "in between" muscles or other meaty areas..

hell...speaking of guys shooting hot.....ive got 3 rings on my left arm still from the last time i played.......which was july 14th.

I have had a bruise like this before. So im going to say that you will be alright. BUT if you do feel like its abnormal to you DONT hesitate to go see a doctor.
Also your thigh has lots of blood flowing though it so it could explain the bad bruise.

That's the good thing about playing paintball in Aus, seeing as you need a gun license to own a marker, at nearly all rec sessions no one has their own marker, therefore no need to worry about people shooting hot xD

Generally bruises can turn out looking pretty bad, but as others said they're pretty harmless... I had one that didn't seem all that bad but is still hanging around, I got it on the 17th of June o.O

I've had a wide variety of nasty looking bruises in all colors of the spectrum. The only one that ever worried me was a shot to the forehead just above the mask line that instantly created a goose egg the size of a golf ball. I felt nauseous every time I leaned over for the next week. A friend that wears a tank top under his vest took one to the arm pit and it looks like it's going to end up scarring where it broke the skin. Just keep an eye on it and if it doesn't clear up after a week, you may want to consider having a doctor check it out.

You were hit in the femoral artery which ruptured (colored orange from the inside of the vessel being exposed under the skin). You bled into the surrounding cavity (the yellow) and died from the blood loss. Then the necropsy in your leg (black ring) spawned an infection which has reanimated your body. You are now a zombie and will no longer care about petty bruises. Brains, on the other hand.....

Sorry I haven't responded sooner, but Funky is correct. The infection spread and I am now a zombie. I can't play paintball anymore because I dove into D1 and my legs and 1 of my arms tore off. Hopefully people learn to not shoot back after they get bunkered and this wouldn't happen.

You can catch me on Sunday's episode of The Walking Dead

I just recently got hit in the edge of the arm pit this past weekend. HOLY **** worst looking bruise I have ever seen. It doesn't hurt but when I took my shirt off I was like, "da ****?"
