Well, there are similarities, but there are also quite a few differences. Yes, the bolt is a hollow tube, and runs over a bolt guide, but that's about the extent of the big similarities.
For one thing, the bolt runs directly in the marker's body, rather than inside a can and sleeve. No can also means that the air used to fire the ball is stored inside the bolt and guide, rather than in the firing can. There was also no need for solenoid inserts. The Quest had aftermarket style tournament boards with multiple modes while the Shocker just had ramping or semi. You had a stock roller bearing trigger before the Shocker NXT introduced this feature. All Quests fired from a fixed volume of air as standard - while the Shocker had the HE bolt with the same feature, this was an upgrade until it became stock with the NXT. You have an LPR to control the bolt cycle. You have a stock clamping feed neck (though not lever clamping in stock format). You have considerably less o-rings overall. You have a built in snatch grip (NXT's have them, but the stock NXT snatch grip is more for show than anything - it's smooth, with nothing to grab hold of). Just the one board - no upper and lower board. The frame can be placed in one of two positions, changing how close the frame is to the reg.

But again, while you have similarities, you still have big differences. With the DM, you have a bolt tail, that fits in to a hollow bolt guide, rather than a bolt guide that fits inside a hollow bolt. The DM bolt runs within sleeves, rather than directly within the marker's body.
The Quest is almost a midway point between the Shocker and DM, along with some features of it's own.

Just picked it up on MCB. I am still in shock as to how well this shoots. I love this thing way more than the egos, timmy's, and angels I've owned. Like ive been telling people and friends i think the quest converted me to a spoolie lover. I dont think i could own another poppet again.
