You just can't hate on a G6R. That is one hell of a gun. I had a Vice and a 2011 G6R. Loved them both evenly. Have not had a chance to shoot a 2012 yet. I could get ~2200 shots off both the G6R and the Vice.

Every once in a while I miss the "pop". Sometimes I will shoot my Clone and wait for the paint to hit to make sure it actually shot anything.

I say inline poppit then spools then poppits

Got sick of the clack clack of the bolt on a true poppit, plus I feel like the bolts are always going to fast/hard

There is no logical reason to own a poppet unless u literally shoot a case a game which I can guarantee no one in here does out of necessity. Spools shoot better and are quieter period.

Also this maintenance stuff makes no sense. If you don't wanna maintain your $1000 marker regularly tell your mother to buy it for someone else and get a tippman.

Btw I shoot a luxe and have no reason to ever get another marker.

Lol. Some people love how loud poppets are. What are your reasons behind preferring spools?

Poppet are loud?

No Ego's are loud, good poppet's aren't. Like Intimidators.

I like to have efficiency because I occasionally play in the woods with my friends with no fill station nearby. My Clone VX gets around 1500 per 68/45 fill which is usually plenty for me. IMO the spools are more consistent at the chrono as well. My G6R usually had a +-15 spread while my Clone VX is always within +-5. I agree with you about the maintenance stuff. I actually really enjoy taking my marker apart and cleaning it.

How do you like your Luxe?

Couldn't agree more. I would take a Vice or a G6R over an Ego any day. Nothing wrong with an old Alias either.

I own both, enjoy the Poppit more, but it isn't about smoothness it is, for me, more of a feel... Poppit's just feel more like my old Cockers that I grew up in the sport with, just a lot of mechanical kachunkery going on. I'll grab my kids g3 or our Dx and play with spools, but I keep leaning back towards my poppit.

I know what you mean. I loved my autocockers back in the day. I still own one for when I have one of those days where the autococker is the only thing I want to shoot. I have gotten to the point though where other than those few days, I seem to prefer the accurate, consistent, and smooth shots that my spools deliver.

This is stupid.

It's 100% preferential.

Some spools get better efficiency than poppets now.

Some poppets can be smoother than some spools now.

I like certain poppets and spools, but not the type itself.

I do not disagree with you but I also do not think this thread is stupid. There are some like you who like them equally, for each of their own qualities. There are some, however, that only shoot spools and would not consider buying a poppet. And then there are guys who are the exact opposite. I was mainly just curious as to the opinions of these players and their reasons behind only shooting one type of marker. I do appreciate your input though.

Looks like the gap is slowly closing between the two on the poll.

I voted poppet...but not stacked tube...eventhough I own one. There is nothing like the feel of a long string from a gen 1 Marq...add a Lurker spring and...wow Smooth as my Droid!

The smoothest spool I have ever owned is still the PM6...

Well i do play in the woods with friends some so better efficiency is nice when you can go refill between games or during the day at all. But truthfully i don't mind either type, they both work fine IMO.

Smoothest spool ever has to be the dm5 (you can argue all day that the Clone GT's and such are smoother, but i'm talking about over all kick, in which having a lighter gun you feel that kick a lot more than holding a boat anchor like a DM5).... the extra weight of the gun offsets the kick and it literally feels like nothing. The newer DMs are so light that you can feel the kick a little more. Sure, the newer DMs are more consistent, efficient, lighter... but i still stand behind my opinion that my DM5 is smoother overall compared to my DM10... i would honestly go as far as to say its even quieter. For example, i played with my DM10 for most of the day a couple weeks ago, and i brought out my DM5 the last two rounds... i prefired a couple times before the game started and i had like 4 people ask me what gun it was and why it was so quiet.... so there was definitely a sound difference if people never noticed my DM10, but actually said something about the Dm5

Any reason why you don't like stacked tube designs? I really like inline poppets too but I also like a good old fashioned stacked tube.

I used to have a DM5. I will agree about the smooth shot...also about the boat anchor lol. By the look of your posts I would say you prefer spools and particularly DM's?

It would look that way, but DMs have their weakspots as well. I love the way they shoot no doubt, but they are airhogs.

If we are talking about what is your favorite shooting gun.. then yes, spools and DMs. If we are talking about efficiency, then thats a whole different ballgame
