Well, I played Pro 10 years ago, and the game is SO not the same today..... if I came up against my 2002 self, I would dominate with the 2012 game skills (both playing with the same equipment).

2002 paintball was way slower, and let me give you a few specific examples of how the game has changed since then:

- few people could shoot effectively with their off hand (most Pros started learning this skill in 2001 - copying Chris Lasoya)
- few had even heard of a snap shot (the russians developed the modern snap shot in 2002)
- few could run and gun effectively (Dynasty started that trend at the end of 2001)

Sure, the odd player here and there may have had any of the above skills as natural ability... but for all intends and purposes, the game developed tremendously between 2001 and 2006.

Since then, not so much.... as more and more organistions started to copy the russians, and development since then, has mostly been tactical.

My favorite part was when Impact sent a dude to S2 and D2 Otb.

Ohh and the massive penalty party. Glad Joe got pulled on that because he sucks at reffing and had karma coming a long way.

4:24:11^ for those who don't wanna search. Mid game went quick, but otherwise solid play for the new guys.

Working the night shift so I had to sleep during todays matches, but I heard about it. Brutal, but they probably learned a lot and I've heard some good things about their break, etc.

So it's just a matter of correcting their game and learning from it. They've got a tough day tomorrow so we'll see where it goes.

For sure

But, was the level of play in Pro 10 years ago, lower than what you see in D2 today?

Definitely

Maybe you actually agree with eachother - but are just talking about 2 different things?

If this YohY guy actually means the talent is greater today, he is absolutely wrong... but if he means the level of play is far better today, he is correct.

As for his rant on "old timers" destroying the sport, he is just off his rocker - The majority of the people that keep paintball alive today, in industry, as field owners and as team owners, during the biggest economic crisis in a lifetime, are EXACTLY those "old timers"..... so that is just talking out of his ***, and quite possibly taking his argument a step too far, without thinking - usually a mark of lacking maturity

Goodness..

Vegas odds makers have set the under/over bet for the number of points (not games) won today at one.

Over or under?

They're playing right now and looks like it might go that way too.

Tough introduction to pro paintball going on for Contact.

and they needed to have the other team start with only 5 in order to get that point.

obviously this team was nowhere near ready to participate at this level.

buying the spot is irrelevant. being unprepared to play at that level is. and It could have been an established D1 team just as easily. Its a huge jump. more than one team bought a pro spot for this league. think of all the new teams playing pro who never played D1 in the nppl.
Uprising bought in. Damage bought in. Heat bought their way in.. I think vendetta did too.

Yeah, but the listed teams except uprising (maybe vendetta too, idk their roster) have established pro players on their rosters.

Slightly disagree, human beings over time get smarter faster and stronger. As the game get's older people become more adapted to it more as well it becoming more than just second nature. I've seen old school players from the past try to apply "what has worked then" to today's game. They don't seem to get the same result's as they once did.
