Easier to hurt yourself or someone with also. Great idea.
while this thread is rather old, i'm still amazed that people were recomending him get anything larger than a 400-450 class heli. Anything gas powered for someone who hasnt mastered flying a helicopter is just bad news waiting to be aired.
Here is a little story for you guys who want him to get a gas heli. True story too.
At one of the local clubs around here, a guy was training on a .50 class heli. He had a trainer, but they had graduated from the trainer cord, to where the student was just taking it off and operating it under the verbal command of the trainer. All was going well until the trainer turned around and was talking to someone in the staging area that the field. He wasnt paying attention as a gust of wind upset the heli, and the student lost it. Just as the student yelled "I've lost it" the instructor turned around as the heli's blades caught him in this throat, effectivly cutting the mans head off. He later died at the hospital.
Now, that was under mostly controlled situation, at a field, with a trainer, and accidents happen. Now you guys are suggesting a new flyer get one alone? Come on now.
Not being a dick...just trying to educate.
