Roommate left for a few months on travel and left me his bike to ride whenever I want. Going for a ride today for the first time in over a year. Hoping I can afford a bike once he gets back.

well, that makes you the same as the rest of the people who try to be like that. congrats.

is this your first bike? have you ridden a buell? the best way to find out is to go ride bikes. if you can't go out and ride bikes, take what you can get and meet up with those who will let you ride their bikes.

They really only have air in them??

I just can't see that working so well... usually cheap *** mountain bikes have air forks....

Are you sure they don't have pressurized air in them? With the oil.

The air inside is pressurized(33psi stock) but, I don't believe there's any oil other than to lubricate the internals if there's even that. The dampening and rebound are still adjustable. The actual stiffness that would normally be determined on the spring is determined by the air pressure.

Sorry to do this, I'm not really a part of this community anymore. But a friend's dad suffered a brain aneurysm and is currently hospitalized, and the family is trying to raise funds to cover the medical bills. Sad story that's pretty universal throughout the world. I'm just reaching out to you guys because, well maybe you'd give. Every penny counts.

Love you all. Pray for a miracle.

I'm 5' 10" if it makes a difference in options.
A friend of mine had a buell, he loved it for awhile but then realized it didnt have enough power in about 6 months.

xbs are solid bikes, definitely recommend a 12 though...motor's a little harsher, but the torque is like *pow*

Been through numerous reviews, which seem to lump in the years as generalizations. I haven't found a good breakdown on suggested rider height or body mass. I'm looking for a comfortable ride (no need for tracking) that maneuvers smoothly. I do not have the need to hit 120 out of the gate.

How do they control the rebound dampening?

He felt that it was to slow for him after 6 months.

I've had my 06 Gsxr 1000 since brand new in 06 and I'm still not sick of it. Although if its your first bike please don't start out on a 1000, I've seen a lot of kids get hurt on them.

again, too slow for what? im betting he hasn't been on very many challenging roads or tracks. I've been riding for four years or so, and my sv650 is still "fast enough."
