Has anyone tried this for mask fogging?

Saw this online

http://www.amazon.com/Scuba-Diving-S...bxgy_sg_text_y

Basically magnets are on the inside and outside of the lens, with I guess a cloth like material. When fogged up, you just move the outside magnet around, which wipes the inside and outside of the lens. Has anyone tried these?

Haven't, but don't think it's a bad idea if its what scuba divers use.. I've been rubbing bar soap on my lenses then rubbing it in with a cloth for the longest time. Works for about half of the day.

Someone made one of these for paintball. I have one. If you would like it send me your info and I will ship it to you.

While I'm sure this works fine with flat scuba mask lenses, would the magnet hold as well on a parabolic paintball lens?

Also, when I've been diving I've always used an anti-fog gel of some sort and never had any fogging problems.

Well that thing is $7 and a new thermal lens can be found for around 15 depending on the lens you need, I think thats the wiser route. What mask system are you using? Do you use a thermal lens?

Now that I think about it, I would be worried about the inner swiper unit flying back toward my eyes at high speed, should the magnet unit take a direct hit.

I never tried it during a game. I tried it at home briefly and it stayed in place well. I will look for it. I sometimes throw little extras in packages when I sell stuff. If I find it you are welcome to it. I will pm you if I find it.

I use a proflex. but i'm a fat baller... so i sweat profusely. i'm usually pretty good, but sometimes ill get a little fogging or get straight up wet spots on the lense.

i would keep it tucked as far in the corner as possible, when not in use. though it is a valid point.

looks like a great idea, until you start to think a little about it.

1. You will lose the magnet the first day of play

2. If you get hit in the outside magnet, what about the kinetic energy, will it shoot the inside magnet into your eye?

1) depending on how strong the magnet is, that may not be an issue. ill report back once i give it a shot

2) well dont leave it in front of your eye...

The difference is that scuba lenses aren't rounded like paintball lenses.

I would just invest in a good thermal lens, the amount of money that you'll end up spending on anti-fog gimmicks will end up being larger over time than if you got a good mask or good replacement thermal lens for your current mask.

i assume you are neither a heavy perspirer nor fat. i use a pro flex, but eventually, moisture will get on my lens.
