sounds like you have metal to metal contact going in inside the engine itself , how long since your last oring, grease and rebuild of your engine?
i would take apart the engine and look for metal to metal contact, ie spring and blast guide, and ram and back cap,
while i was at it i would replace all orings and relube and rebuild engine then go from there, check that rear back cap screws are tight.
