Picked up a new GT and was dry firing to test the gun. It started to make a squeaking sound for a string of trigger pulls an then it stopped. Should I be concerned? Not sure if its related but, w/o air in full auto eyes off, noid is only audible when ear pressed against marker.

A squeaking noise typically indicates the 4x1 o-ring on the screw that holds down the regulator housing / foregrip needs to be replaced.

If you remove the reg there is screw below that (black) which secures the foregrip to the frame (in addition to the silver screw you can see that also secures it to the frame).

Beneath that black screw is a 4x1 o-ring that the screw goes through and that o-ring forms a seal for the screw. That's where you should be looking.

Thanks, I'll try that when I get home. Is the o ring included in the o ring kit hat came withthe marker and Does the o ring have to be lubed?

It's not going to hurt anything if you put a little lube on it. Honestly I'm not sure if that particular o-ring comes in the kit. I ripped the kit apart the second I got it and put all the o-rings into my larger o-ring kit so not entirely sure which ones came with the GT.

would this squeaking sound more like a goose honking? played with my gt today and while firing a string I had the equivalent of bolt sticking forward. I held my trigger and it cleared and then it started honking like a goose?? It actually shot fine while honking but I would like to know where to look. Are those two different issues? Thanks.

If your bolt is sticking forward check to make sure you're not overlubing and also check your powertube tip o-ring and make sure it's not a little too large. You can easily check this with the drivetrain apart and sliding the bolt over the powertube. See if it catches at all on that o-ring when hand-cycling the bolt back and forth.

As for the noise. Are you getting a noise each trigger pull? I can't seem to find the video of it that I had seen before that would show what the noise sounded like. The GT will definitely shoot fine while making the noise so if yours is doing that you should check the 4x1 o-ring mentioned earlier in this thread.

I will def check that. and yes I got the noise every trigger pull. While it shot great, it sounded hilarious

Definitely sounds like it's the o-ring mentioned earlier if it sounds hilarious, since that's how most describe it lol

I've seen some people have to replace the o-ring and some just tighten down the screw a bit to fix it.

From my experience with this issue, if changing the oring doesn't immediately make the sound go away, turn your reg down to zero and turn it up slowly while dry firing. In the GT I fixed that had this issue it seemed to seat the oring properly.

Ok, guys. I'm trying to figure out this honking. I've replaced the oring twice (they do come in the parts kit), and I got some more buna's and vitons. I've tried the 2 bunas from the kit and now one of the vitons. The vitons are slightly better but still really honking. I think at this point it's try try again. I'm not sure, but I would believe that maybe my screw may have a bur on it and it's too sharp for the oring?? I'm looking into that now.

Is the o-ring shredding at all? When you remove it does it still look good or is the screw cutting into it?

What parts kit do you have? I wasn't aware of any that contained a 4x1 viton.

He says the parts kit had some 4x1s but he bought some vitons. Also make sure you grease the oring up and torque it down and make sure it looks like it's on there good not all twisted. Also helps if you put some oil in your Asa (good oil like shock tech or PE) a d dry fire it out of your gun and it'll help that oring seal as well as other good, just make sure you dry fire it all out so it only coats orings inside because other wise it may sit and gunk stuff up as it will grab dirt out of the air you are using but will also kind of clean out your internal passages. 50-100 shots should suffice. 1 pod + should be very sufficient.

Yes, I did buy some vitons. And yes, when I remove it the oring is shredded every time.

I wonder if you took a really small file and just knocked down some of just the sharpness of the very bottom thread on that screw (that thread wouldn't thread into the aluminum), if it would prevent it from shredding that o-ring. I wish that screw had the threads start a small bit from the base of the screw as that would likely prevent this from happening.

before the file, I'm going to take a buffing wheel and try it first. I always go from softest to hardest when working on any item.

did that the first time I took it apart. changed nothing.

Here's what I did: took out the screw and clamped in a soft vice. Used a dremel with a buffing wheel. It made the screw edges softer. I was able to put the first oring on it with no problems. I did find alot of metal shavings throughout my reg upon very close inspection- cleaned all those out and changed all the orings. I finally did put just a drop of oil on the screw and put it back in. After a little bit of work, I have no leaks. I think the screw was the problem. Sometimes I just need to step back and figure out what I'm doing over and over that ISN'T working, take a breather and try to think what is the cause of the problems and solve that. Thanks to Mark for all technical behind the scenes info that saved tons of time. I'm glad that nation is here and that there are guys that care about helping each other out.

Definitely a fair bit of work involved here to get that screw to play nice, but glad you got it sorted out!
