Needed a battery charger.

Had a junk Piranha board. Found an old 120/12v inverter, cut the leads, soldered up a plug on the board and inverter, plugged it in. I'm happy. Didn't have to spend anything.

So your using 12v charger to charge 9v battery..

Be sure to not let it over charge.

Yeah, you may not have paid anything for it; but I sure wouldn't trust a Piranha board to charge my batteries.

When they batteries are 10 year old Spyder rechargeable I'm not all that worried about them. But a Spyder/clone board does a fine job of charging them. It peaks around 11v and they don't overheat.

Great, but better chargers can monitor voltage so the battery really won't overcharge at all. Last thing you need are problems because you went the budget route charging a 9v battery.
