Recently got a demon with the 2012 parts in a trade. The gun has a leak coming from the trigger area, its a quieter high pitch leak. I have replaced the inner can orings, the 4x1 qev plug orings, the rear bolt guide 806 oring, checked the manifold seals and gaskets, the qev diaphragm is ok, i even checked the transfer tube orings. I am stumped and unsure of where this leak is coming from. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Levi

Had a similar leak a couple months ago. Changed a few o-rings, no change. Swapped out the QEV and it was fixed. Upon examination I couldn't see anything 'wrong' with the failing QEV. I suspect that the problem was caused by too much having been applied to the bolt causing the QEV to become too soft. (Maybe a tech can tell me if I'm on crack on not.) Since then I've been careful with the lube and no more issues.

It's a strange one.
Some people say you shouldn't lube the diaphragm as it causes it to deteriorate quicker... but when I did my tech course, Martin slapped a load of DOW55 on it and said it was fine.

Wildwayz, I was trying out Slick Honey... maybe that had something to do with it. BTW it was sweet on the bolt but I never tried it again because of the QEV. Back to Vaseline!

I used a very thin coat of Monkey Poo on the bolt the other weekend - was fine for 3300 shots. Just checked the bolt and it still looks lovely and wet.

It's all rather silly if you ask me. Almost all of those lubricants are made of the same stuff, so it shouldn't matter. What I do know from working on regulators is, if you get grease residue between two surfaces that need to seal 100% tight, you will have a problem. The grease forms a barrier that prevents a tight seal due to the fact it's actually solids mixed with liquids.

This is why you don't grease spring packs or regulator seats or you get crappy consistency and creeping. Maybe it's the same with the QEVs......run them dry and keep them clean I say. Or just get the upgrade and do away with them forever lol.

I don't put any lube on the diaphragm EVER. Makes them get soft and then they don't spring back properly.

Replaced the qev diaphragm ad its still leaking. Think maybe i need to use some dow 55 to help seal some of the can orings?

Can be the third inner can O-ring, and swelling it with Dow 55 can fix it if that's problem.
