Hi ive been playing paintball for about 8 years on and off. I recently played a big game after getting back into paintball since about a year and half off. I played alot of speedball/ xball but not getting back into it i have way more fun playing red and scenario games. My question is when I was at this game I saw alot of people with markers that look like assault rifles with stocks and remote lines (tm15, a-5 ect) I remember I used a tm15 for a day and hated it, Im used to a more speedball style gun (i own a empire axe and empire sniper pump). Do you guys find it easy to shoot this big guns and actually get people out or is it just me?

I am pretty new to paintball, but I have a BT omega and frankly the stock does nothing for me. Its still easy to shoot, and its comfortable enough, but imo unless youre into milsim there is no need for it. Stocks really have no benefit in paintball, if anything they make it harder to aim properly. I have no problem playing well/being an asset on the field/getting people out though.

Just use your tank. Stocks are good for the tacticool looks and not much else.

Well using the tank to shoulder the marker thereby stabilizing it effectively turns it into a stock so do what makes it comfortable for you.

Stocks are for the people that want to remove the weight of the tank off of the gun and uses a remote. The stock then adds stability for aiming. Sights are useless with the hopper unless you can offset one or the other.

If you came from an x-ball background, ANNND own an axe, screw stocks. I hate the way they feel on paintball guns, and prefer placing my marker dead between my eyes tiliting it slightly to the right or left depending if I'm shooting right or left. Stocks with tanks are horrible, and I'm not a fan of remote lines, although I am used to the lack of maneuverability that comes with one, having had to hang a real rifle on a sling many times.

TL;DR I personally can't use stocks on paintball guns well.

i used to use a bt-4 with stock and remote. i didnt mind it, but i moved to a PE etha. like mentioned above, its tacticool

I find it easy to shoot a gun with a stock providing o have a remote line for it. Otherwise I find the tank and stock combined to be a bit awkward to handle.

Without a remote line a stocks pretty derpy. I only go with them for scenario games, using them for regular rec play is kinda excessive.

If you have a tiberius arms or rap4 gun though, the air is built into the stock and the gun is magazine fed so it gives a real milsim feel.

One setup that works surprisingly well is a stock combined with a more forwardly mounted tank.



The old Vipers had this as the default setup, but I've seen it done with a few other guns.

Though one issue is mask clearance. Not a big deal with a semi shooting normal paintballs, but with a gun shooting First Stikes, where you do actually want to aim with a sight of some kind, it can be a big issue. I found the usual AR style stock to be a major hinderance, so I made my own which was more adjustable and had a ton of mask clearance.

I used to have an X7 Phenom with a stock and remote line. Then I bought an invert mini. I like the tank sooooo much better. I also fine it easier to aim a gun with a tank over a stock. I only would use one for looks. So imo screw stocks.

Like said above in used to lining up the bareel between my eyes and shooting that way I found when I used the tm-15 I coudlent see down the sights and i would have to randomly shoot 1 or 2 balls just to find out where i was aiming and often i was 5-10 feet off from where i was aiming. Just not my style i think was just wondering how other used them and actually shot anyone. Cause when I used the tm-15 i shot everything but people lol

A radically different setup will cause that quite often.

Heck, I have one gun that I swore must have had a bent barrel since it seemed to shoot to the left all the time. Ended up clamping it to a bench to test and it shot just fine, but the way it shouldered was just different enough from my other usual guns that it pointed differently.

I have a Tippmann A5 with a CAR stock and I find it extremely easy to use. It's just like shooting a rifle with the exception of the obvious extreme ballistic differences between a bullet and a paintball. I also use a 2k4 WGP Superstock, which does not have a stock. It's personal preference, I suppose, but my M4-styled A5 shoots fairly easily, is maneuverable, and is surprisingly light! I'm not one for unneeded tactical accessories, so I've just got a Stiffi on there, the stock, the reg/remote, and the M4 shroud, which is excellent for holding onto while shooting.

Quite funny I did the same thing. Now rocking an etek 3. The x7 just collects dust/is a loaner for my friends without gear. But I prefer tank. Although I was able to land shots just as easy with the tippy.

Why would you need to hold onto the shroud when you have a foregrip on there too? Classic case of too much stuff on the gun, no offense.

Ya I loved the X7 for a cool looking gun, but I figured whats the point if I can get better or as good performance in a lighter tighter package. (My mini or my back-up SP1)
