The Rowan University Paintball Club is working to set up an NCPA tournament at the Playground early in April, probably April 6. Details can be found
here. We're looking forward to getting involved on the college tournament scene now that our Speedball Division has attracted a number of interested and experienced players who have the time to commit to the team. Any other college teams who are interested, please feel free to let us know.
Any Rowan students who are interested in playing may join the team and work towards getting on the field, but MUST attend practices hosted by the official team: it is Recreation Center policy as much as our policy to uphold this. “No practice, no play.” Furthermore, joining the officially recognized Rowan team carries with it the responsibility of participating in team activities and community service projects. Since our recognition following our exhausting chartering process in 2009, we have been required to complete service projects so as to maintain our charter. Secondly, as stated above, members are also required to participate in practice and/or contribute in some fashion to the betterment of the team.
There is a number of Rowan students who have expressed interest in playing, but do not attend the practices, nor have they completed required service projects. While there is talk that there might be two Rowan lines, only one will be the official school-recognized team established through the charter maintained through the Rec Center (the team working to establish the tournament is THE official and recognized school team). Therefore, any other team which proclaims itself to be Rowan’s “official” team but is composed of unofficial members who are not on the roster maintained by the Recreation Center should be considered a misrepresentation of the university and will not be recognized as having been officially fielded by Rowan.
