Vicious Geo3 and Custom Milling
Hi,
So the Vicious Geo3 has been out for a couple of weeks now and I was just wondering what you guys thought of it. Do you like the direction we took with having different milling on each side of the body? We were going for a little of the old XSV Ego5 look with it.
Do you like more plain milling or really outrageous milling on custom guns?
Jack

I'm not really big on this particular one. Mostly because I don't like solid color markers but I do like it. The red splashed Vicious one is TOUGH though.
And its definitely nice to see a different milling on the PL markers like use to be the norm some years back. Hoping to see possibly a Dark version too or.....dare I say it.....S......L.
LOL

I think it's harder to see the milling on the splash ones, but can see why people like it.

So, even though the Vicious and the Dynasty Geo2 had different milling, you don't think there was enough difference with them to make it worth the extra effort?
People don't just want slightly different milling, they want radically different milling than the standard gun? Is that right?

I like the milling the more outrageous the better. But would prefer it was the same on both sides.

I remember the the differences in the Dynasty and the Vicious of the Geo 2. I was just speaking on how everyone (all companies) had seemed to have gotten away from the radical PL milling.
People in general seem to want radically different. Like the difference from the first Dark Ego to the Mantis to the Stock. I honestly don't care all that much but it is nice to see. So long as I can get it in my preferred color way (Black/Gold) I am ALL GOOD regardless of the milling.

The lines on the last Vicious/Dynasty were a little to subtle IMO to really even tell the difference. You could tell by the anno, but not really the milling.
I feel if you are going through the effort to make a PL gun, might as well go all out with the milling.

I have the Vicious Team gun and I think that the differing milling on each side give it a whole new personality, and prefer it that way.

One thing that would give (me) reason to buy a PL marker over a regular one would be the anno. Maybe bring bring back the 3 color splash from the LEDs. Don't offer special guns in regular colors. Id like to see polish splash and fade annos come back. I understand why modern companies perpetuate the dust two tones... Its cheap to do.
For milling use a 5 foot rule. If standing 5 feet away a normal bloke cant tell the difference between a regular model and a PL than its not enough. Combined different annos with different milling and you get a unique marker.

I would take a slightly milled PL over anno any day. That being said, to me personally, it doesn't matter how crazy the milling is as long as it looks good. There are some crazy milled timmies I didn't care to much for.
I would imagine it's harder to get the milling done these days with the guns being so thin and light compared to 05/06 and beyond.

Jack,
I like the vicious milling, I think that it's a pretty good balance as far as milling goes. In general, the amount of meat that is left to work with to mill custom PL guns has to make it a bit limited on what can be done, so I am not sure we really have the luxury of "Extreme" milling. I will say that I like that you gents are doing it, and I think that it's only a good thing if you guys come out with some other custom millings. I would think Dark as a minimum as I've always liked the dark milled markers.
Keep it up, and keep manning the whip so I can get my marker soon!!!

Guys they don't mill PL guns from an already finished marker. They start from a block of aluminum and can punch in any pattern they want into cad and have that cnc'd. While ANY design is possible, certain designs will require extensive machine time, which means cost more to produce.

I have a very short list of 'dream' guns I would like to own, and the 05 XSV ego is damn near the top.
I think unique milling on each side is a more artistic way to do it, and love them for it. It doesn't have to be deep to be radical.
Five foot rule is good. Polished ano is good too.

I would like to see more custom Anno on the marker like the Geo US flag edition and the Ego 11 USMC. I have both and do not plan to get rid of them. I also got a Geo3 in Atlantic and Swamp which is unique. Custom Milling is OK but not that prominent on the markers. Maybe other themed ones like Native American, WWII, Vietnam. I would purchase a Native American one today if it existed. Dye had the Warrior one but the face looked like a cartoon.

The milling on the Vicious Geo 3 simply brings the nostalgia of the 05 XSV ego.
This can set Planet Eclipse apart even more than it already is. You are a great company that makes great products and listening to your customers shows an amazing heart and soul a lot of paintball companies lost over the past 10 years.
This is exciting and I look forward to the future patterns coming out.
