Question on VA Gi bill situation I am currently in.

My school asked for a member 4 dd214, but I never received a member 4. Only a member 1. I ended up getting a service-2 dd214 from my ebenefits account last night.

Has anyone had their service-2 dd214 work in place of the member 4? I do know they are the same when it comes to the bottom few boxes.

Im pretty sure this service-2 is all I can come by.

Thanks!

I've never heard of anyone NOT receiving a member 4 copy. If it were me, I'd call my old unit headquarters and ask around til they told me what's up.

If you haven't done so already, contact your county veteran service officer. Mine was very helpful for me and all of my buddies that I have referred to him.

How do you not have a member 4? More importantly how do you walk out of the office when you got out, without a member 4? That's like, the only piece of paper EVERYONE looks forward to when they get out. I value that paper more than I like jerking off.

Ive came across a few posts across the net with the same issue, never got one. Ive made quite a few calls, no luck. Requested a copy from the main hub, and got what I could off of ebenefits.

I had NO clue there was more than one dd214. I got out and thought I was good... I had a dd214 in hand, guess I was wrong.

Anyone else? From doing some research it seems any time you request a copy of your member 4, you get the service-2. They dont have copies of the member 4. They are identical... which pisses me off.

You would have had to initial in block 30 to request your member 4 when you discharged. For whatever reason you didn't do that. The member 4 is the copy specifically made for you.
VA can't process your ed benefits without a character of discharge, that's why they need the M4...

NARA maintains an online request system called eVetRecs

yeah so hey i didn't tell you guys?
ptsd is confirmed to be service related, so **** you VA lets see you argue with someone that has a PHD.......................though i'm sure they will
and get this, she thought i was an alcoholic while in the service. uhhhhhhhhhh...........just becasue i go through two or three 24's of beer in a week doesn't make me one? i was in the infantry. **** off

also putting in a claim for the back at the same time. same with the knees. the chick from VA threw in my hearing as well, my hearing isn't bad but i know it's worse from when i came in and left the service

not sure how this going to affect me getting back in. i mean the bosses don't need to know unless they ask. it's not gunfire that bothers me. it's other ****.
