Exclamation Lucky banjo fitting issues! REWARDS GIVEN FOR HELP

hey guys last night i got my power light body and a spitfire board with a mac 33 noid. the noid and board all fit fine but the rear banjo has no room what so ever. i am using the stock frame right now. the banjo sits in the bottom of the frame ( upwards behind the trigger it is the one farthest to the back ). it sits in the frame but there is a solid 1/4" of space that i can get rid of to fit the frame screws back on. the body will not got go down onto the frame. ive watched installation videos and i am doing everything properly according to the videos. I still can't seem to get it right. there is literally no place else the banjo could go.

PLEASE HELP ME

REWARDS WILL BE GIVEN TO THE FIRST PERSON TO FIGURE THIS OUT!!

i can see milling down the frame a lil i can do that easily but i rweally dont want to.

Have you tried tightening the body down in a separate order? Such as back frame screw, front, then middle?

Just use a Dre mel tool with an aluminum bit or a drill and take out the necessary material to make the banjo fit. No one will see it and it binding might cause future problems

Dremmelling the frame sounds ok but I'll use a drill press instead

Had this same issue on both of mine hang on a sec.

Edit: You need a FBM (fireball mountain) snatch grip like the one on the left of my black and blue ion. Its a stylish talon snatch grip that doubles as a spacer that makes the needed room. You can get one from this guy

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/...126_175918.jpg

It's relatively cheap to get one but the downside is it will take about 3 months to hit ur door step so u have been warned

Your second option is to dremel out 1\4 inch of aluminum out the rear portion of ur stock frame as well as some material off the the inside where the mac33 will rest if I get a moment il take mine apart for pics

Where's my prize

Can you post a pic of the board, noid & lucky banjo setup? And possibly one of you attempting to make it fit?

Actually, saw an FBM claw rail/snatch the other day and almost bought it. FML.

Mikey, dremel/press. Easiest way around it

Wacky. I blame the tolerances on the stock frames. Mine fits fine. It's almost like every other frame has a problem.

Ions are a pain to design parts around for just that reason, but I don't think that is the problem here. Dozens of aftermarket companies making mostly compatible parts - many of which were probably reverse engineered instead of being based on stock Ion production information. Tolerance stacking can bite you in the *** fast, and compatibility with another aftermarket manufacturer's upgrades is usually not near the top of the concerns list for lots of designers.

I've never handled a Powerlyte body in person, but looking at the pictures - it appears that the rear banjo fitting sits flush with the bottom of the body? Is that actually the case? Using stock parts, the attachment between the donut and the banjo is recessed - up above the bottom face of the body that lies against the frame. That recess is required for fitting a Lucky banjo in place as they take up all of the room available in a stock configuration. The Lucky bodies also had that recess for the banjo attachment. I'm actually surprised that a stock Banjo will fit with the Powerlyte body if that recess is not there.

That it is - which is the tolerance stacking between different aftermarket manufacturers that I mentioned. Room in the stock assembly for the Lucky banjo, a secondary body kit sucks up all of the available room to barely even use a stock banjo, leaving the company that took advantage of the excess room in the stock setup up a creek when it comes to cross compatibility. Until aftermarket 3 enters with a product that adds that space back in....

Vicious circle.

I found when I did mine I had the same problem. The lucky banjo fitting is too tall and you have to mill out the rear part of the stock ion frame. Also I had to mill the part of the frame behind the board so that the Mac 33 niod would fit with the Lucky board. Hope this helps. (P.S. this set up could slide right in my Sith frame)
