Review of the talon Acid Customs carbon fiber trigger.

First up, some comparison pictures:
From left to right: Stock blade trigger, stock scythe, first talon, redesigned talon

Weight: Stock triggers ~8g, carbon fiber trigger ~4g - 5g. (only have a kitchen scale on hand)
Stock blade:

Stock scythe:

Redesigned talon:

The original talon trigger I received, ended up being pretty much like the stock trigger with only 2 points of adjustment:

Where only the top adjustment screw and microswitch screw would do anything due to the way the trigger was constructed. After a very brief exchange with John from Acid Customs; he quickly noted the problem and made a new design and had it shipped to me.

Pics of the new trigger:

Adjustments:
4 screws from the side:

Magnet and nylon back stop for rear stop adjustment:

Bottom 3 adjustments from the front:

Top adjustment screw from the front:

Included is a magnet that you can install at the bottom of your trigger frame. I used a toothpick to hold it in place while the glue set. The side with red should face the trigger adjustment screw.
From the back:

From the front:

I happen to like a very short trigger pull, so the microswitch adjustment screw rests against the microswitch:

Trigger in the pulled state, nylon stop for the back stop adjustment, as well as showing the magnet return adjustment relative to the glued magnet:

Close up installed shot (love the way the top of the trigger follows the frame):

Full body with trigger:

My thoughts on the trigger:
The good:
  • Zero side to side play. Stock triggers were fine in this regard in my opinion, but this trigger just sits amazingly in the frame with no side play at all.
  • 4-way adjustability. This is the real reason why I wanted this trigger. Sad that the Vapor doesn't come with this out of the box, but with John's revision, this is precisely what I was looking for.
  • Magnet return. Instead of relying on the microswitch and magnet at top, I prefer the feel of the magnet return at its new location instead of at the top of the frame.
  • Weight. Very small gains, but nice.
  • Great customer service. With the hiccup of the first trigger I received, I was more than a little disappointed that I only had the original 2 points of adjustment, but John was great, always informing where he was in the process and shipped out the redesigned trigger out to me quickly.
The bad:
  • I have never owned a carbon fiber trigger before, but the finish on the side doesn't seem to hold up all that well as can be seen in the pictures. Small issue.
  • Super gluing the magnet into place while not hard, looks a teeny bit ghetto. Not really acid's fault at all, and more of a critique on how the Vapor trigger was designed as a whole with only 2 points of adjustment. John really did his best to accomodate what was available.
  • Price. Personally this was worth the price at $65, but I can see for many others that the cost of admission is simply too high.

The side finish is hard to keep pristine due to the grinding of the front face, drilling the bearing hole and the screw holes all these operations do leave little scratches as the C/F does not come with protective film and would come off with the flood coolant used when cutting in the cnc.
But I will try to find some way to polish it in the future

Price
Custom work is not cheap, these are all hand finished individually and the magnet and back stop screws are all modified by me as no-one makes screws with magnets pressed into them, all the others just glue the magnet onto the end of the screw and soft tip screw are nearly $1 each if I buy them so I make them myself.
Take a CP trigger that is mass produced and costs $55
ACiD triggers are custom made to order and only $10 more with alot more designs
