Etek 4 velocity problems

My etek 4 AM has been acting weird lately. The velocity has been going all over the place. The first shot will be at 280. Then the next will be 260 then 275 and so on and so on. I have no idea what to do.

I can almost guarantee you it is the paint you are shooting. Try some high quality paint and you will notice a difference.

If you are using high quality paint, you can try a smaller bore barrel back. The stock Etek4 barrel is a .693 and therefore will be fairly large for majority of paint today causing the inconsistencies. Seeing as this is an Etek4, I'm assuming it's fairly new, so the regulators or orings should not be wearing out just yet unless you've put 30+ cases through it. Make sure your dwell setting and your LPR setting are on stock.

Good luck.

I've heard they're all over the place to begin with. I've shot mine and noticed a considerable difference with the .688 UL.

If it was shooting fine and now it isn't, it is either your paint/barrel match or your battery is low. My etek 3 board doesn't always read the battery level well, and a low battery has a HUGE affect on my consistency.

Check those two first before messing with dwell or lpr.

+1 different barrel bore size.

Matching bore to the paint size on my etek 4 makes the FPS pretty consistent.
