damn. any chance you could go back to the post office/fedex/ups/etc. and ask them to look it up? Probably a long shot i'm sure, but maybe if you paid with a card instead of cash that might help.

If he shipped with USPS and didn't buy shipping insurance, it it gets lost hes SOL. Ive been there. They deny all responsibility unless you get shipping insurance.

If you can pull the tracking number you can at least see where it went while in transit.

I would think that there should be a way to re get the tracking number to the package you paid for them to ship. There has to be a paper trail somewhere

Where in the US was it sent to? That might help. So that people can be looking on craigslist and so on.
