Time to try competitions
My friend wanted to start doing physique competitions and talked me into doing some with him. Well actually I am just doing this because he needs to be knocked down a peg or two haha He lifts consistently and thinks that he is Gods gift alot of the time. I lift and take care of myself but most of my muscle comes from the physical work that I do such as landscaping. The first contest that I would like to enter would be in November. I am 180lbs and roughly 5'10.5". I am not really sure on where I should go from here? should I start slowly cutting weight now or should I gain some muscle mass first. I would most likely like to compete at 165lbs so as to be at peak definition. I am not sure how my diet should be leading up to competition and how my workouts should progress. I am a decently poor college student so I can not afford a trainer or an expensive diet. My parents do support what I am doing and my dad said that he would pay for my protein. just from how I always lifted I have 4lbs of micellar casein and two tubs of combat powder. I am about to order a blend from truenutrition of 25% hydrolyzed whey, 25% hydrolyzed casein, and 50% whey isolate purely for post workout. Is this all a good start? also are there any other supplements that would be recommended. I take creatine when I remember to along with a multivitamin, fish oil, and glucosomine condroitan. I also take BCAA pills in between proteins once a day. I also use pre-workout on occasion, currently using assault. Again thank you for any help that you can give. Here is my friend and I. I am on the right.

Off the bat your friend needs a lot of shoulder, back, and arm development.

I am getting ready to move up to school this week so I am not sure how many times I can hit the gym this week. Afterwards though I will start posting my workout logs here so that I can get peoples thoughts. I am currently doing phase 2 of musclepharms shredded workout with very slight variation. Again thanks guys for any input. I have never lifted with the goal of aesthetics before so this is new to me. I also don't want to give up my usable strength.

If you compete, do it cause you just want to compete. You're going to spend a lot of money on food, tan, expenses, coach, etc..
Your physique's are nowhere near good enough to even stand out on stage so going in with the intention to win, let alone place, would be pointless.

Agreed. Before starting to get too serious, realize that you cannot win this competition. I don't mean that in a dick way, I just want you to have a realistic view of what you're doing. Fitness/Figure competition or not, the guys competing in them are no joke, and they'll have significantly more muscle mass than yourself and your friend. If I were you I'd wait a year or two until you have more training and a better physique under your belt, and then only spend money on competing when you feel you have a chance to at least place top 5. When you hit that point, then give it your all.

I completely understand that these people are not to be ****ed with, and i have no expectation to win. I have a very competitive nature and this gives me something to focus towards. With that being said the first competition is a small one in a recently small town near mine.. So sarcastic comments aside i will still post my progress here and just do the best that i can. I am doing this specific event to beat my friend, but i am competing in general because i love to compete and push my body.

If you need a prep coach, I will manage your Diet/Training/Contest Prep for $50/week. I guarantee you will beat your friend.

That would be nice if i could afford it haha. All of my "extra" money is going to the improvements in my diet and so forth. That is why i am just trying to get general help and work on the rest myself
